Cadans is the super secret techno alter ego of a very well known and respected Drum & Bass//Dubstep producer. 

We have known and followed Cadans for many years and are very exciting to get to release the first EP of his new endeavour. All 3 tracks have been road tested extensively by labelboss Darko Esser and now finally will be documented on precious wax.

Basically it’s a triple A-side record. Fix, Samsa and Millian are all peaktime, stripped down industrial machine funk monsters. A trio of bassheavy battle weapons wich will leave any dancefloor in shatters. Try it out and see for yourselfs!

For nearly three decades, Laurent Garnier has urged himself to create on the cutting edge of dance music. Beyond the turntables and studio, Garnier moves between genres and performance techniques with the aim of continuously challenging himself. Last summer (2013) Laurent Garnier met with Jerome Derradji over dinner before his long awaited return at the decks in Chicago for SmartBar. Longtime friends, Laurent and Jerome talked about the possibility of releasing some of his new productions under the name Garnier. A new venture for the veteran Dj and producer, that will see him release a series of 12”s for labels such as 50 Weapons and more....

“AF 0490” is the first release in the series and showcases Garnier at his best.
Three tracks that pay their respect to the heroes of Trax, Dancemania and to the Chicago sound they helped create without any misplaced nostalgia.
“Bang (The Underground Doesn’t Stop)” is a dancefloor anthem, magnificent and pure Chicago circa 1998. “Boom (Chakolak)” takes you way back to the Southside with its gritty “footwork” 909 kicks, snares and vocal loops, massive! “Beat (Da BoxX) is a pure Garnier, Dancemania inspired techno monster. The loop is finally complete, Garnier can now hop on flight AF 0490 direct from Paris to Chicago to Bang The Box once more.

We welcome UK’s rising star Jordan Peak on board for his first fully fledged techno release. Jordan has been making waves ever since his entrance on the international circuit in 2011 and with releases on Bass Culture and Robsoul a.o. his future is looking bright. Last year he started his own imprint Rogue Society, a label focused on music on the borders of house and techno.

Jordan’s first steps into purist techno territory appear more like giant leaps. All four tracks sound like he is been making techno tunes for years, an extraordinary display of his talent. Black Paint kicks of a funk fuelled groove accompanied by modern day dub stabs and fx programming. Follow up Crocodile Tears brings memories of early Slam/Soma records to mind, updated to 2014. 

On the flipside you’ll find 2 dark, hypnotic groovers. Relentless in their pace, both with catchy melody lines that’ll stick in your brain for weeks to come. Another fantastic BALANS debut.

Kicking off with "Blurred Vision", we are welcomed to shadowy atmosphere and loopy synths which give way to skipping beats, while a spoken word sample slips in and out of the cracks.

Tom Hades kicks things up a notch with a pounding kick and an industrial vibe running throughout his interpretation, which hits hard from all angles.

Closing the EP, "Quandry" offers a more optimistic approach with subtle chords over bouncy percussion, while clever effects and a frantic snare provide the driving force.

Soma welcome back Glasgow based producer Harvey McKay for his first solo EP of the year, ‘Goodbye’. Harvey has had a great start to the year hitting number 1 in the Beatport techno charts with a storming release on Cocoon plus various other releases adding to his already stellar discography. Harvey returns to his home label with two typically heavy tracks both fuelled with his fast paced yet grooving production style.
Title track ‘Goodbye’ opens the EP and in true Harvey style. This track was truly designed for the dance floor however a deep pad and pitched down vocal gives this track more depth than expected. Harvey’s percussion is typically skippy and gives the track great momentum. After an epic breakdown the track kicks back in with drums crashing and with Harvey’s perfect arrangement, you can’t help but flow with the track.
‘The End’ is Harvey unleashing the beast within. What seems to be something more reserved quickly becomes a monster as filtered hi hats slowly work their way in, purging any idea of this track being anything less than full on techno. With only a brief rest bite in the middle when the track opens up with a suitably deep stab, ‘The End’ powers through with ferocious intensity.
Harvey is on the up and up and with more planned for release on Soma in the coming months, there is definitely no stopping this on form producer.
