Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (13 October 1948 – 16 August 1997) was a Pakistani musician, primarily a singer of Qawwali, the devotional music of the Sufis. Widely considered one of the greatest voices ever recorded, he possessed an extraordinary range of vocal abilities and could perform at a high level of intensity for several hours. Extending the 600-year old Qawwali tradition of his family, Khan is widely credited with introducing Qawwali music to international audiences. He is popularly known as "Shahenshah-e- Qawwali", meaning "The King of Qawwali". Born in Faisalabad, Khan had his first public performance at the age of 16, at his father's chelum. He became the head of the family qawwali party in 1971. He was signed by Oriental Star Agencies, Birmingham, England. O Lord, cleanse my eyes from the world’s illusions,
Purify me from worldly distractions and delusions.
I desire nothing, O my Lord, save this one plea,
Make me the servant of the Master, forever free.

You are the praise of God, eternal and sublime,
Your very existence, O Prophet (PBUH), is the divine.
Your beauty surpasses all, your grace is supreme,
In you, the greatness of the world does gleam.

God venerates the name of Muhammad (PBUH) with honour,
What a name, O Messenger (PBUH), a reflection of grandeur!
May the fire of Hell never touch those who speak,
The name of Muhammad (PBUH), so flawless, unique.

I cannot stray from the sacred precincts of the Haram,
The thought of the Prophet (PBUH) in my heart, a calm.
I cannot leave the door of His presence so dear,
Nor can I live on the world’s scraps, far or near.

Do not despair, O night, though darkness may fall,
For the dawn is coming, answering the call.
Do not be disheartened by the night’s cruel sway,
The guiding star will soon light your way.

When the signs of drowning begin to appear,
In His black cloak, the Prophet (PBUH) will draw near.

Whoever calls Muhammad’s (PBUH) name with faith so bright,
Cannot be lost in the depths of the night.

No storm can subdue, no tempest can drown,
The ship of Muhammad (PBUH) sails with honour and renown.

O Captain of the Ship, do not worry,
Though the storm rages, I travel in a hurry.
The Noble Prophet (PBUH) called out with grace,
"Fear not, I am with you, come, find your place."

My protector is the Beloved, the Master of all,
The helper of the Prophets (PBUH), who answers the call.
Let no enemy disturb my world or sphere,
For I will call upon Muhammad (PBUH), and find peace near.

What harm can befall me, when the world is against my fate?
With Muhammad (PBUH) beside me, I hold the keys to my state.

My protector is the Beloved, the Master of all,
The helper of the Prophets (PBUH), who answers the call.
Even in trials, when you feel lost and astray,
You will see, He stands with you, guiding your way.

In thousands, we stand unique, we rise,
On the Day of Resurrection, Muhammad (PBUH), the prize.

You will be astonished, surprised by what you see,
The truths once hard to grasp, now clear to be.
Those who once called themselves followers of the divine,
Will stand as true servants, as the Creator’s design.

When humanity’s dawn emerges, on that bright day,
The Prophet (PBUH) will appear, showing us the way.

When the guilty tremble, in fear on that day,
No one will come to help, none will stay.
But on His shoulders, the black cloak will rest,
The beloved of Amina, with grace manifest.

When the Prophet’s (PBUH) face shines with a radiant glow,
All will be drawn to Him, their hearts in tow.

On the Day of Judgment, those with hearts of gold,
Will be redeemed by Muhammad (PBUH), His love untold.

As the embodiment of mercy, purity, and grace,
His light shines forth from the heavens, in a divine embrace.

The story of the Prophet (PBUH), far from the day’s sun,
Is written in the stars, a light never undone.
The eternal flame burns bright through every trial,
In His name, we find our strength, mile by mile.

Since the beginning, the veil has been lifted,
In the Prophet’s (PBUH) presence, all hearts are gifted.
