The songs move slowly and stay put, built from viola, harp, dulcimer, fretless bass, smallpipes, and occasional pedal steel, all played in ways that allow pitch to drift and edges to soften. The rhythm is present but understated, absorbed into the texture rather than driving it forward.

Lamps come on early. Shoes don’t quite dry. The light does enough.

The album moves from irritation, through neutrality, into familiarity. Not as a story, and not as a lesson, just as a sequence of ways of being. Each track takes the same conditions and responds slightly differently, until the conditions stop needing a response at all.

January Drizzle doesn’t build, resolve, or clear. It holds its shape, then lets it go. It’s music for grey days that don’t explain themselves, and for people who’ve learned how to live inside them.
