Welcome to Happy HardCorey’s first DJ mix! (which means a few transitions are suspect :P)

Happy Hardcore (aka UK Hardcore, with a bit of Hardstyle too) is my favorite genre of music. Remember Cascada’s Every Time We Touch radio hit from the mid 2000s? Cheesey vocals, soaring synths, and relentlessly powerful bass lines - happy hardcore is all that turned up to eleven.

I’ve been listening to the genre ever since Darren Styles’ legendary Skydivin’ album landed in 2008, but I always paid more attention to the ecstatic drops than the vocals. 

Then I fell in love. And then I got my heart broken. Suddenly all my favorite songs made me cry. :,(

So it’s only fitting that my first DJ mix is made up entirely of the reliable tearjerkers that got me through the most feels of my life. If you’ve ever had your heart broken, maybe it’ll make you cry too.

The setlist traces the narrative of a romance, with all its highs and lows, love and hope, despair and anger, and of course, loss:
