We've assembled an all-star crew of artists to remix an incredible original by Active Child. Everyone truly brought their A-game, and the results speak for themselves. Many timeless dance floor moments are sure to come from this release. MDK is a new project by someone responsible for some of the most iconic tracks in the past 10 years. The man behind it is none other than Matthew Dekay (@MatthewDekay). Joining him is another legend, known for his emotional and unique approach, someone taking a no-compromise approach to production and sound quality, a man that needs no introduction - @Stimming.

As chance would have it, a couple more of our dear friends wanted to join this project, upon hearing about it, quickly turning it into a mini-album. @Dave-DK's Pacific Ride is a melodic journey, while his stripped down Topanga Dub goes into darker territory. This one will be right at home in the desert or a warehouse, just the way we like it. @Pablo-Bolivar rounds things out with a serious four to the floor jam, alongside a nostalgic ambient version that serves as a perfect closer to this remix EP.

Last Night On Earth welcome the prolific Deadbeat with a special vinyl ‘LNOE in Dub’ compilation, featuring a new Sasha exclusive. The DJ/producer, sound artist and music tech educator already has an extensive resume of labels and collaborators including Echocord, Mutek, Sonar, RBMA, and Monolake. Deadbeat aka Scott Monteith has reworked his eight favourite cuts from the LNOE back
catalogue, creating dub interpretations of tracks from Sasha, Hunter/Game, Ejeca, Jody Barr, VONDA7, Alex Niggemann, Jon Gurd and Dubspeeka. The Canadian-born, Berlin-based producer has delivered the dream – reworks which could stand up as single tracks in their own right, while preserving the gravitas of the original cuts. Furthermore, Sasha’s ‘Float Collapse’ is an exclusive track from the label head, never before released.

Along with eleven albums, 20+ singles, countless remixes and collabs, Deadbeat also has a peerless dub archive spanning early Jamaican roots, through the 80s/90s to today’s evolving global scene. His DJ mix ‘Radio Rothko’ in 2010 is rated by various publications as one of the most genre defining mix CDs of all time. 

For Deadbeat, his debut for Sasha’s imprint is especially meaningful. ‘I saw Sasha play for the first time in Toronto around 1996, and while we have travelled in quite different musical circles since then, it was a real honour to put this project together. The LNOE catalogue has so many melodically rich dance floor killers, it was a real pleasure to rework them into a more meditative, cerebral mode. Hopefully listeners will savour these new versions in the comfort of their living rooms as so many have enjoyed the originals on the dance floor over the years.’ ‘LNOE in Dub’ by Deadbeat is out on Last Night On Earth on February 14th on vinyl and digital.

Michael Klein makes a big impact once again on Cocoon recordings as this runaway train of an EP careers towards a sound system near you. But there’s more to these lessons in slamming techno than first meets the eye. The entire release is awesome in both scope and execution, with a level of sonic precision and controlled aggression that will dominate any dancefloor.

The riotous first cut Medusa jumps straight in with a cascading rush of energy. Searing synths, percolating acid and pounding beats jostle for position like the writhing knot of snakes referenced in the title. My Castle employs a glitchy, filtered intro that makes for a perfect mixing tool. The air is suddenly sucked out as thumping, subsonic 909s and scratchy textures melt the synapses, bringing on a rush of enormous proportions. Klein explores every variant to its logical conclusion, making sure there’s no doubt about who’s king of this castle.

Their Kingdom is an exercise in stuttering, looping techno for the purists. Clean and heavy definitely wins the race here as we’re enveloped in a cavernous breakdown and darkness falls.
Noises rounds things off in a melee of squawking mechanical bleeps and lethal, metallic percussion. A distant melody dares to enter the fray and like the legions of dancers transfixed by Klein‘s vision, it must surrender to the intensity or be swept aside.

Last spotted rocking the massive ‘Odysseus’ on Astropolis, complete with a full strength Marc Romboy remix, Bedrock and Ovum affiliate Oniris now makes his second slam on Marc’s label Systematic with three more supersized interplanetary trips…

‘Contact’ direct dials your soul with its crisp arpeggios flailing like tentacles, gradually wrapping around you, squeezing you and pulling you deeper and deep into space. It’s followed by ‘Aliens’… And judging by the tumultuous momentum and bassline grit, it’s not a friendly encounter. Tense, edgy and rough; there’s a classic early 90s Tresor style coded deep in this groove.

Last but not least ‘Orbiter’ marks the slow sojourn home through deep black space and bright twinkling stars. Expect a little cosmic turbulence here and there thanks to the rolling beats and voluminous subs. Another stunning trip from Systematic and Oniris. Safe travels.

Bio:
Swedish artist Harald Björk started releasing music around 2006 as a youngster in Berlin. After his early releases on Traum Schallplatten he founded his own label Kranglan Broadcast as an output for own works and ADA, Axel Boman, Fairmont, Kate Wax, Suzanne Kraft and more. Harald’s main focus except studio experiments with various synthesizers has always been finding new ways to perform his atmospheric mix of ambient and techno live. In 2013 Harald joined RBMA New York. In 2015 he released a 12” EP plus a 7” single on Studio Barnhus followed by the album Kris- & Konflikthantering. The lead track Sabor Latino got heavy rotation on Ibiza and ended up on The Sound of the 17th Season by Sven Väth. Following year Harald debuted with his first own Cocoon release "Spring" on the Cocoon Compilation Q. 

Harald’s tracks has ended up in everything from DJ-sets by Carl Cox and Miss Kittin to appearances on mixes by Sven Väth, Four Tet, B.Traits and Toro y Moi as well as features in Radio1 Essentials by Roman Flügel and Damian Lazarus.
