

I always heard that these amps were awesome once they had a competent tech get their hands on em... many people don't remember Red Bear. They were a Russian amp company spawn from Sovtek in the early 90s. The most notable claim was that they are the "tone" for the first Korn album. I sent this one out to Kirk Huffnagle in Kirtland Ohio because he was the only person with the balls to open this amp up and dig in. My only real instruction was to make it sound like an Metaltronix amp...

The result is as follows:

Complete signal path switched to sozo caps:
added gain stage:
added f&t filter caps [german made caps] :
added impedance selector:
added carbon comp resistors to signal path:
added gain stage control:
added post phase inverter master volume :
switched 6ax7 tube jacks to accept 12ax7
Installed matching JJ tubes.
