Galaxy 82 is a new alias from Scotland; forging a new sound to which you may reminisce of a bygone era, waiting around phone boxes trying to work out where the nearby rave was happening. Galaxy 82 reflects on this time with their debut single ‘Equinox’ featuring J Farrukh.
Working under a new alias, Galaxy 82 has been an active producer in the dance scene for many years, kicking off their career back in the early 90’s and has secured major label deals with past projects. 

This track is an expedition of rave. Dripping in authenticity, ‘Equinox’ captures the greatest decade of dance - the 90s. It’s layered synths, zestful bass progressions and fluttering electro tinged melodies make for electrifying listening. The unquestionable powerhouse vocals of Joy Farrukh [J Farrukh], are on display throughout this rave voyage nestled expertly between the breakbeat rhythms and syncopated staccato piano. Choruses of reveling ravers break into a cacophony of cheering and shouting before a dynamic hip-hop breakdown.  
‘Equinox’ by definition describes the point of time where the plane of the Earth’s equator passes through the geometric centre of the Sun’s disk. These moments are a rarity, much like this track

Limbo Records, an iconic progressive house label which emerged from 23rd Precinct Music - an independent record store in Glasgow in 1992. Based in Porto, Portugal, Rave Child is off to an exciting start with the new label and event series, Kokölò. True “to move forward” meaning behind its name, the label ethos focuses on a specific mood or state of freedom rather than a particular genre. 

In the inaugural ‘The Birth’ EP,  no-face-entity Rave Child captured that feeling of a soul discovering the dancefloor for the first time with all its naivety and joy. United in the use of breaks, and chopped voices meld with dreamy melodies, each track on the three-track EP takes on the unique, nostalgia permeated sonic gradient. Mastering by Vril and Andreas Lubich, aka Loop-o, make this package easy not to miss. 

Feel like a kid again on properly induced euphoria aka the album’s opener ‘It never was.’ Daydreaming at the heart of playful lights and colors, beaming to a point of galvanized innocence, getting loose in some utopian infinity; this track lifts spirits and launches moves like nobody watches. Today [Friday 6th June], Up Ya Archives returns with its second release from Bristol’s Fez The Kid with “Body Mover”. The first single from his new 5-track EP dropping July 11th of the same moniker, this latest track channels the energy of the 90s through a distinctly new-gen lens with the sounds of classic jungle infused with footwork, hardcore and rave nostalgia with cheeky “pump up the bass” vocal samples. Emerging from the vibrant underground of Bristol’s electronic scene, Fez is rapidly carving out a reputation as one of drum and bass’s most exciting new voices and has been a staple in Nia’s sets for a while.

Speaking on the release, Fez says:

My Body mover EP showcases a combination of old school-centred styles that I’ve been developing over the past year. I strived to combine new production techniques with oldschool methods and sounds to curate both a catchy and emotive collection of works. All five tracks offer individual purpose, with the title track body mover finding foundation in a ragga hook and groovy bass line that I wanted to not only be club-ready, but also the sort of song that can get you up and dancing even at home.

The official home for everything new gen junglism, Up Ya Archives launched last month with his debut release from Nia and Bristol based newcomer Cheetah called “Get Loose” that had a hat trick of first plays with Jack Saunders “Hottest Record” on BBC Radio 1, DJ Target “Targo Embargo” on 1xtra and New Music Fix with Tom Ravenscroft on 6Music. The soca-inspired sunshine banger lush with whistles, carnival tinged percussion and heavy basslines featuring both went off all weekend at early May bank holiday parties, as they celebrated the release with a sold-out block party in Peckham and after party at Venue MOT.

Featuring on labels such as AKO Beatz, Meditator Music, and super sonic booty bangers with standout tracks like “the longest time” and his collaborative project “Cucumber Jungle VIP” with Toby Ross, Fez demonstrates a style that feels both familiar and forward-thinking — a hybrid approach that’s resonating with audiences across the UK and beyond.

In 2024, Fez teamed up with Tim Reaper on “Skin Out Crew (Magnificent Mix),” a highlight from Future Retro London’s Meeting Of The Minds Vol. 13 compilation. The collaboration marked a significant moment for the young producer, signaling his arrival within the genre’s more established circles.

As he continues to develop his sound and presence, Fez The Kid stands out as an artist unafraid to blur genre lines, honor the past, and push jungle & bass music into bold new territories.
