I wrote lyrics to this song on the sixth floor of the Lemon-Holton cancer center in Grand Rapids Michigan on Friday while  being treated. We were surrounded by those beginning their journey, others fighting, some, like us, recovering and those who don't know how much time they have left. You can feel this kaleidoscope of emotions pressing up against the edges of the building. Last night I put together a rough melody to paper and memory.
  September 27 I was up at 2:30 am today and an hour later I was locked away in my studio putting it all together. Lost of mistakes, retakes and a mere ten hours later I had all the tracks recorded and roughly mixed. 
  On September 28 I put the finishing touches, then mixed and mastered. Hope you enjoyed this tune.

An "Encounter with the ex in a bar."  The incredibly awkward situation when you encounter your ex in a place you went to in order to forget her.  Exxagerated but true to life.  Humorous but incredibly sad.  A drinking song that is actually about the incredible inadequacy of male coping mechanisms when alcohol is one of the coping mechanisms.  Silly on one level, but intended to express a deeper truth.  NOT autobiographical by the way.

Decided to do a few more instrumental covers of some of my songs. As I have mentioned previously, my guiding light when growing up, included groups like The Shadows, The Ventures, etc. This is just for me, although I hope that you will like some of them. The songs covered in this way have to be songs I uploaded to Suno so that the main melodies were those I used for the original songs.

I am a 'long suffering' songwriter.  What I 'suffer from' is a lack of ability to learn or play instruments or read music in real time from a staff with notes on it. Initially, I just wrote lyrics that no one would read.  So I began creating a capella vocal melodies that no one would listen to.  
     I learned to drag and drop notes onto a staff with software. . . which helped a little.  Microsoft came out with (for a little while) a software they called a music creator, but was actually just useful as a "chord generator".  That helped a little bit more.  I collaborated with talented musicians. . . and eventually found an incredibly talented professional musician who helped me to 'professionalize' some of my amateur offerings and didn't charge me money.  WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.  I had over 400 songs that were (according to musicians) "good ideas poorly played."  Then a friend suggested A.I. music.  Six months ago, the A.I. allowed me to create better music than I could manage on my own.  But it was "hit or miss."  A lot of work to make it do what I wanted instead of just letting it create what it wanted, and a lot of just plain luck involved.  THEN. . . within six months, the A.I. site allowed me to "cover my own songs," keeping MY vocal melody and vocal treatment (for the most part anyway) and MY (or my collaborators') instrumental melodies and finding far better and more professional instrumentation for the same melodies.  THAT was heaven.  I am truly blessed, and finally have justification for musical ideas I had as much as twenty five years ago.  Now, you can listen and evaluate whether it truly WAS worth sticking with it for the last thirty years.
