Mustard Music proudly presents Do It Yourself, the new album from Cornwall-based producer Oli Lewis — a release that steps confidently outside the label’s usual drum & bass funk lane and into something more raw, personal, and uncompromising.

Balancing life as a professional chef by day and a producer by night, Oli Lewis embodies the true spirit of independence. The title Do It Yourself is more than a name — it’s a philosophy that runs through every layer of the record. Written, produced, and crafted in his own meticulously curated analogue studio, the album reflects a hands-on approach that values texture, warmth, and process as much as energy and impact.

Sonically, Do It Yourself leans into a deeper, more stripped-back side of drum & bass. While still rooted in the genre’s foundations, the album explores heavier atmospheres, analogue grit, and a moodier palette than Mustard Music’s trademark funk-led sound. Hardware-driven basslines, tactile drum programming, and subtle imperfections give the tracks a human edge — music made with intent rather than formula.

Living and working in Cornwall has also left its mark. There’s a sense of space and isolation woven into the record, contrasting sharply with the high-pressure kitchen environments that fund Oli’s creative output. That tension — between routine and release, structure and freedom — fuels the album’s character.

Do It Yourself stands as a statement of authenticity: drum & bass created outside the mainstream, built in an analogue workspace, and shaped by an artist who refuses to wait for perfect conditions before creating. For Mustard Music, it marks a bold and refreshing step into new territory.
