There Will Never Be Another You

Years ago Maggie and Sims and Henry and Emmett took a good old fashioned road trip to Mexico and Sims got the muse for this tune while in Saltillo, Mexico.  Much later Maggie left for Washington state to help her singing friends in Sequim up on the Olympic Peninsula with their band Sequim Marimba and this tune burst onto the scene. 

And now it finally is able to breathe itself into digital life with this recording.  The Wail engaged harmonica wizard Howard Levy to lay some magic down on Sequim Marimba, playing harmony lines to Sims' mandolin lead and one absolute killer-diller solo.  We had a gas with Pauli Ryan laying down tracks on bongos and a list of too many beautiful percussion instruments to list. Maggie wraps it all up with a short  and perfectly sung verse to take it out.

Smoldering vocals laced among the jazzy mandolin and has; an infectious blend of continental jazz, swing, gypsy music and melodic vocals. The Wail has caught numerous listeners by total surprise during its more than 20-year history. Of all the venues and stages that these ‘NPR regulars’ have graced, it’s the PAC’s, festivals and showcase clubs that bring the most enthusiastic audience response!
