How long have you been creating music?

SPACEJOCKEY: I've had FL studio for about 8 years now, the first year I wasn't really writing music (just learning the software). So almost about 7 years. 


What inspired you to write the track released with us?

SPACEJOCKEY: I wrote this track towards the end of the worst part of my writers block this past year. I was seeing all of my friends doing big things while I was sitting around doing jack, I was not having it. People weren't giving me the time of day or taking me seriously and it was time to change something. I took all the rage and frustration from getting ignored and put off by people in my local and online scene to make this song. This song really means a lot to me, it came from a time of struggle and really empowered me upon completion. 
I feel like this is something a lot of younger producers can resonate with. From what I've learned, it feels a million times better to just stay in your own lane and not worry about others.


What do you use to make your music?

SPACEJOCKEY: I have two KRK Rokit 5's, and a pair of audio technica M50x's plugged in through an audio interface.

My DAW of choice is FL Studio, but there have been a few times I've needed to stem certain things into Ableton to use a couple of their plugins. 


Where, and when, did you first discover Prime Audio?

SPACEJOCKEY: Oh jeez. It was around the summer of 2013 when I was 14. I was big into Getter, Midnight T, Jphelpz, Subject 31, and Bommer. I started to really getting into production at this time as well.
Noticing a lot of them were actually people releasing on Prime, it became a huge goal of mine for the past 6 years to release with them.


What are your current challenges as a producer/DJ?

SPACEJOCKEY: Finishing tracks faster and getting more bookings. I want to start playing more shows, but for right now I have a couple ideas for differentiating my live experience.


What are some things you are looking forward to this year? 

SPACEJOCKEY: While this year for me has definitely had me down in the dumps, I have been working tirelessly on new music despite this and really started learning more about myself. The results are starting to slowly show, and I'm excited to see this progress explode in 2020.


Who would you say is your biggest inspiration?

SPACEJOCKEY: Barely Alive is definitely the first that come to mind. When they first started releasing music, they really inspired me to get really creative and think outside the box with my mixdowns and sound design. Habstrakt is also another. He really got me to get outside my comfort zone and experimenting with more rhythm and groove, etc. My friend Nick is also another person, whenever I show him something new he does the same but twice as good. Were both very objective and honest with each other when it comes to feedback, honestly seeing him get better motivates me to push harder.


What’s one thing on your list you want to do before you die?

SPACEJOCKEY: Playing Spring Awakening Music Festival in my hometown has been a huge one for me since I was 13 years old. It's not something that's going to fall into my hands and I know I'm going to really have to step out of autopilot mode to get it.

SPACEJOCKEY: My Soundcloud is the primary place I post my music. I do also have a Youtube Channel where I post not just my music, but tutorials as well!
