The first episode in a monthly series running fo most of 2019. 

The Textures series showcases the diverse and eclectic shades of Merkaba Music, selected from the depths of the label catalog.

My background is steeped in musical journeys, from playing in high school rock and funk bands to DJing vinyl for 7+ years and then entering the world of live electronic music, I love the art of piecing together a tapestry of sounds and music to carry the listener through an emotional and textural landscape. Last year I took a big breath and a big long look at the journey of Merkaba Music and realized what an incredibly large and diverse catalog had been created. I imagined a passionate music lover, or crate digger as we were called in the vinyl scene, coming across this immense co-creation of music and art and feeling a little overwhelmed. The real devoted ones would dive right in knowing that it might be hours of searching to get through it all and other might just listen to a few and bookmark it for another day. 
So I decided to create some label mixes to showcase a wide variety and diversity of the content on the label. It started out as a mini series of 3 or 4 mixes but as I dug deeper into the catalogue I realized that it would take at least 8 stories to capture what I intended. 
I spend months putting together groups of tracks and then in March of 2018 while having some down-time in Bali I set up a couch and small DJ table overlooking a beautiful Balinese tropical garden where I was staying. I then immersed myself in the music and nature and mixed these 8 musical journeys live in the moment to capture the essence of Merkaba Music and its journey over the years.

For our first mix of 2019, we crowdsourced the playlist by asking the bassheads in Chaya Av's Facebook group to submit three hype tracks. We listened to all the submissions and selected from those the ones that fit a certain sonic frequency and could make a diverse, yet cohesive omnitempo bass music mix, which incorporates Dubstep, DnB/Halftime, and Neurohop. This set was recorded live at Cosmic Convergence 2018-2019 on the main Global Bass Stage on the morning of the new year from 5am-7:30am....the set got extended an extra hour so I actually got to play the sunrise of the new year.....The first half is a little more high energy, and the last half is the sweet sexy sunrise..The recording did not get the highest quality...I had the record knob up a bit too high...but i Figured it was still worth posting...Much love to all the people who rocked the full dancefloor with me that magical night! Thank you Cosmic for having me out!

Treavor Moontribe Solo Set at Ecstatic Awakenings Retreat, Bali 2018!!!

Some words from Treavor: 

I don't play Ecstatic Dance events often, but I've performed at several during the Ecstatic Awakenings Retreats hosted by the lovely Ronja Sebastian. I really love playing these events, because Ronja puts her full trust in me to achieve the one main goal of making people dance ecstatically. She doesn't put rules on me about how the set needs to go or what type of music I need to play, which is a huge reason I don't seek out gigs at e-dance events usually. She knows that I know who Im playing for and how to get them dancing! This past December 2018 the retreat took place in Bali which is one of my favorite places on earth! I happened to hit the record button on my set there and Im really happy with how it turned out. I hope you enjoy it too!!!
