This is essentially a remaster. After a hiatus of around a year, I decided to warm back into things by remastering Grinder, with a view to remix, and then time for some of my new tracks.

Messing with Android based composition to record ideas...  all sounds from tablet & no post prod, so it sounds a little muddy...

What The Heart Wants

Another Demo straight out of the tablet. Next step is to import the data into the studio and do something about those drums! Replace all the instruments, add vocals and guitar, mix, etc.

Using this as a crossover between my dance and rock styles, with a Depeche Mode flavour. Hopefully.

What The Heart Desires

I challenged myself to write a quick song with myself actually singing on it, to pop my vocal cherry as it were. 

Lyrics and production are a little ropey/non-existent, and I refused myself multiple takes on guitar and vocals - they only had to be good enough to be bearable. Sorry about that!

The rest of the song is written too, but as I set myself under 3 hours to come up with a rhythm, melody and lyrics, this left around 70 mins to record in, so I ended up limiting it to the first verse and chorus. I think I learned a lot in the process, although I'm not comfortable singing rock at all methinks! I'll rework soon.

Gonna Be OK

Playing with various features of the Native Instruments gear, I came up with this in order to experiment. Now that I actually like it, it will be produced into a final song.

The Sun

A slightly better version of a mellow dance and piano track. Threw in ad-libbed lyrics from another of my songs, while I have a think about what I really want to do with this song!

Recovering from a cold, so my voice is a little all over the place and wavery, but what can you do? I'll re-record once I feel better.

Still a demo, as I've not really defined the middle very well, but it's starting to get there!

Beyond Starlight V2

This track mutated a bit in the making, as many do, and in some respects became more electronic, and yet, more pop, than when it first arrived in my head.

It's bit indulgent time-wise, just how I like it.

Grinder

I'm a solo artist, working from a home studio, and have recently re-entered the world of music after a lengthy detour into more mundane pursuits. I've played in many styles over the years ranging from Classic Rock, Heavy Metal and Gothic/Emo to Experimental Electronica, Dance, House, and Pop. When composing, I like to pick from these many styles, plus mix in some of my other influences such as Classical, Jazz, Alternative Rock, and even some stylings from my formative Eighties and Nineties.

I've taken the measure of abandoning my old writing and recording habits, of moving primarily to a desktop environment, and of rejecting all previously written materials. It was a little frightening, but with earlier tracks comes baggage, and while fun to play from time to time, severely limits the creative process.

Clearly, I embrace a wide ranging set of influences, and they cannot be simply thrown together to make something enjoyable, and so I am taking my time defining the Harrison sound and discovering for myself what works and what is simply indulgence.

I hope you'll like what you hear as I flesh this out and I welcome all feedback.
