Born and bred in London, DJ/Producer Max Dean is an artist on an undeniably impressive trajectory. Emerging artist Candidate has hit the ground running after debuting on Hottrax in 2023 with ‘Sore Feet Society’ as part of the ‘Tripleution’ VA highlighting exciting global talent. Over the past year, he has been honing his craft, blending 90s-infused house with groovy analogue basslines on impressive releases like his ‘Bass Revolution’ EP on Max Dean’s NeXup imprint, which shot to No. 1 on Beatport within just two days and earned support from Chris Stussy and East End Dubs. Now, as the New Year kicks off, the Liverpool-based DJ/producer returns to Jones’ imprint with his first solo release on the label, ‘Sonic System’, featuring three dynamic groovers that highlight the EP’s hip-house influence. 

“My first ever release was on a Hottrax VA just over a year ago, so I’m excited to be back on the label, this time with my own EP consisting of 3 club-focused tracks showcasing my sound. - Candidate. 

Kicking things off, ‘Sonic System’ delivers an energetic rush, combining vibrant synths, nostalgic stabs, and a driving house beat that keeps you locked in. Built on pure UK heat, ‘Make U Freak’ mixes high-energy beats, throbbing low-ends and commanding vocals, while ‘Rhythm Drop’ delivers a playful mix of chimes that spark a wave of nostalgia, complemented by turntable scratches and punchy rhythms that wrap around the heads-down feel.

London-based DJ/producer Sidney Charles is back on Hot Creations with his latest three-track EP ‘Low End Theory’, set for release on 14th March. This marks Charles’ third release on Jamie Jones’ imprint, following his label debut in 2015 alongside Santé with ‘Forever’, and his recent remix of Black Hawks of Panama and Bisi’s ‘Nobody But You’. 

The EP begins with ‘Disco Bumping,’ a slick House cut that blends Aleya Mae’s lush vocals with Sidney’s warping sonic textures and immersive synth work. The title track, ‘Low End Theory,’ ushers in a deep, hypnotic state with its minimal, brooding groove and relentless bass that anchors the vibe. Closing with ‘We Keep On Groovin’, where skittering beats and smooth filters collide, creating a punchy, commanding energy that pulses with Sidney Charles’ distinctive style. 

A master of sophisticated House beats, Charles has established his reputation both behind the decks and in the studio. As the founder of House Heavy Society, he’s curated standout line-ups featuring Archie Hamilton, Prunk, and Kolter, with his label set to take over INPUT at OFF Sonar (Barcelona), The Loft (Manchester), and a USA tour in 2025. With a 15-year career built on releases with Solid Grooves, PIV, and Eastenderz, Sidney’s ‘Low End Theory’ marks the latest milestone in his unwavering output.
