Kicking off and christening EW001 is London-based dj and all round head Mando.    A resident on both Subtle Radio and Aaja his sounds have tended to lean toward the progressive, percussive and deep sides of dance music with a focus on melding sounds from the 90s with contemporary forward thinking productions. 

The theme for this mix is reptiles/lizards following a discussion between Jeet and Mando in the Fold smokers about the incredible cold blooded vertebrates in question. The chat naturally escalated from ectothermic tetrapods to simply gleaming about swamps… culminating in Mando’s desire to translate the feeling of a bog trotting creature into some squelchy, hypnotic and uplifting sounds for your ears. Spanning the leftfield sonorities of electro, tech-house, bass and minimal - Mando delivers an energetic, deep and playful 80 minutes. Whether you’re on your way to work or traversing a brisk walk in the urban jungle we hope one can envisage the cayman skulking through the river or a snake slithering some reeds.

EW001: MANDO

EW002 is an in-house number with co-parent KILM behind the buttons. A lifelong instrumentalist with roots in Jazz and Indie Rock, he’s dipped his toe into the waters of electronic music DJing at venues like Corsica Studios and All is Joy in recent times +++ not to mention his first official release is penned for release later this year on Earthworm o.0

However… in the now he brings us a mix shaped by the tide and its quiet rituals with gentle force and unpredictable pull. 
Like waves ebb and flow across the shoreline, this mix drifts & surges, recedes & returns, and ripples with the might of the ocean… sometimes trickling into rock pools. “I wanted to reflect that rhythm… the way sound, like the sea, can carry you somewhere, then leave you there for a moment before drawing you back into motion.”

Each track flows into the next like waves folding over one another. Some soft and meditative, others deep and dark like the undertow. There’s a cycle at play here, tension and release, clarity and murk, stillness and movement… mirroring the tide’s eternal dance. Let it wash over you.
