In this HAA Alumni Education event, Professor Thomas Forrest Kelly PhD '73 explores the technological advances of the earliest musical recordings—beginning in the ninth century—that allow us to hear today the music of the last thousand years. All referenced examples from illuminated manuscripts can be found in his book, Capturing Music: The Story of Notation.
