Silverman is interested in how sound frequencies can shape one’s experience of space invisibly and be felt physically. In the tradition of La Monte Young, who pioneered minimalist and experimental musical composition in the post-war period, Silverman has developed a new, abstract sound score of artificially generated sounds that simulate brain waves. Otherwise known as sine waves, these sub-sonic tones ricochet, reverberate and combine to cause a trance like drone that reaches the entire body. The numbered frequencies or hertz (hz) that Silverman combines are chosen from the mystical Jewish book, the Sefir Yetzirah, which contains both mathematical and linguist theory on the creation of the world. The sounds which emanate create an unseen but highly felt emergent microcosm of feeling and sensation.
