Random single I cooked up after running into the homie OSYM's beat page. On this joint I'm mixing up different patterns while rapping at variable speeds. I acquired the beat, wrote the lyrics, recorded the verses, and mixed the record down all in one night. The homie Blame The Label was in the lab so I was inspired. Embrace this traffic, enjoy the slow ride.

Allow me to share my fleas with you. So I made this beat about a year ago. Six months later I wrote and laced the verses. This song was originally titled, "Why." However, just two days ago I found the source of my dog's lasting flea problem. As I tried to tackle the problem head on, I was swarmed by hundreds of fleas who chose to brutally attack my legs. The effects of this infestation caused me much irritation, but no where near as much irritation my poor pit-bull had been dealing with for a month. This little meaningless event truthfully placed me in a state of reflection and self awareness. Insects can actually teach you a lot about the world we share..you just got to pay attention.

As a 1st generation Muslim American growing up in America, Freeway was one of those dudes who I looked at thinking, "I can actually be a part of Hip Hop culture and maintain my faith." I remember watching State Property 2, when Beans got locked up, he met Free in his cell while he was reading Qur'an. That imagery got me hyped. Free is one of those dudes who has always represented Islam to the best of his ability, and for that, me and him were brothers before we ever met each other. I had to get him on this monster of a beat Curtiss made...As for the cover art, this wasn't the original cover. I cooked up some artwork I thought was cool and shot it over to @BlameTheLabel. This dude basically hit me back and told me it was wack, so I went to Home Depot and bought a Bush Daisy, repotted it in a Pyrex, set up a white backdrop, snapped a pic with my 5s, and went into some editing. While channeling my inner artist, I believe I created a juxtaposition which matches the song perfect. Freeway brings that street shit in the record. My upbringing was a little brighter, so that's what I bring to the table. Hence, "Deep Gritty."

In 2003 I was sitting on my PC downloading countless gigabytes of Underground Hip Hop, a sub-genre of rap I had recently been introduced to. Somehow I came across this record called the "Two Headed Dragon" by Binary Star. After thinking it was really dope, I found another record called, "Reality Check." I can honestly say that record changed my life.. Shortly after being inadvertently introduced to a brand of Hip Hop i'd never before experienced, I joined a message board for One Be Lo fans where I could keep up to date with the artist's movements. In 2004-2005, I was a freshman in high school walking around campus bumping SONOGRAM in my Sony CD player. That's right kids, a CD player. It was around that same time I first met One Be Lo at a show at the California Polytechnic University of Pomona. After that show I would stay in touch with Lo every so often via the internet. Years later, around 2009, I get an e-mail from dude talking about, "Let's hoop." With no hesitation, I scooped Lo up from Senim Silla's crib out in LA, and took him to the infamous RC Sports Center in Rancho Cucamonga. I ran five on five with him, my boy D, my brother, and this kid Josh. It wasn't till after that game of five on five that I showed the One Man Army my music. Though he gave my CD a real listen and had some encouraging words for me, I truly believe it was really my jump shot that earned his respect. A little over 10 years have now passed since that day. I've been blessed to have traveled with One Be Lo on multiple tours, including internationally. We've recorded a few songs, played a few games of basketball, and have had countless hours building as brothers in Islam. Though I have known Lo for 10 years, this is the first time I have him featured on one of my songs. "All Natural," is what occurs when you let relationships build organically. Patience always prospers.. #WeAreFew

Regardless of what you build, the foundation is the most important aspect of creation. I believe the foundation to all life is water. With Curtiss and I being from Southern California, nothing is more apparent than the current lack of water we have been facing in these past few years of severe drought. But I guess everyone loves the sunshine too much to really give a damn.

Life has been a blur these past few months. It's hard to find time to even eat a proper meal or do laundry it seems. Somewhere in the midst of madness, I found inspiration to write, record, and share some new bars with you all. 

In regards to the beat, I've been a fan of Jake One for a minute now. In my opinion, dude has the some of the illest drums/soul sample chops in Hip Hop. As a fan, I was naturally geeked when he recently dropped the #PrayerHandsEmoji tape. Now I usually don't rap over people's beat tape joints, but this particular joint really inspired me to write. I wish I could insert the prayer hands emoji here.

About the song:
Money is an interesting concept. As I've become an adult, I've been blessed to have learned a little something about economics, finance, and the roles they play in society. Being an MBA student taught me a lot of stuff that rap didn't. Through out my time in the business program, rap has always helped me maintain a practical perspective on what "gettin' money" is all about..or not about, for that matter. Just make sure you collect $200 when you pass go. Thank you.

"Feel Good," is a record that accidentally came to life. This instrumental is the last beat that my younger brother, Haris, made before he left to medical school. As soon as I heard the beat, I knew we had a record on our hands. The song essentially speaks on the importance of staying positive while personal relationships deteriorate as a result of growing up and growing apart.
