Fusion festival means a lot to me. Here I had this very key moment in understanding techno music years ago. So it was a big honour to come back and play a set at Bachstelzen. My partner in crime @rearte-musik joined me for the trip and since we’re on an amazing flow together right now we tag teamed for this set. So we asked ourselves what we wanted to do with this very nice slot at Saturday 9pm. The temptation was big to play a standard repertoire of 120bpm tech-house, the crowd was super ready and we would have had all the classic bangers ready. But that was what many before us had done and no challenge. What we’re currently super interested in are constant build ups. Get rid of this repeating break drop break arrangement and try to build one constant curve of energy. Sometimes this results in a very hypnotic atmosphere because the crowd get’s caught in it builds up a lot of energy but never really knows when to release it. We started of at 95 BPM and ended up at 120, Ruede Hagelstein played after us and despite my first thoughts, was a really good match to our set. Madmotormiquel took over the flow for a perfect evening. Enjoy the three set together in this row if you can.

Ever since he was a child the acoustic world was always the centre of San Miguels universe. Grown up in East Berlin he was diving deeper and deeper into the sound of the multifarious city of tunes. Music turned into his clear passion. The sound is contemporary, deep and emotional. In all of his productions you can hear the extatic diversity combined with a fresh tune. In 2008 San Miguel established the Berlin record label „Phonothek Records“. As an creative and outgoing guy he wanted to share his passion in many ways, so he founded „Einfach Liebe“ which is a community of various artists and a pool for a variety of events. Hitting the Proton Music release catalogue in July 2017, the "Glass Elevator" EP was a highlight in the summer schedule. As we now return to the title work, a pair of new remixes from a hugely talented quartet take the track to new heights.

Renowned and hugely respected within the underground dance arena, Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic have been at the forefront of the scene for well over a decade. Finding success with a debut on Tilth Music in 2007, Georgia based, Michael and Levan teamed up with Croatian producer and close friend, Stiven Rivic, to create one of the most successful collaborative partnerships. Multi-talented and a professional athlete in the case of Rivic, the trio founded the hugely influential Mistique Music and Kunai Records imprints to impressive effect with the "State of Liberty" debut coming on the former in April 2009. Never looking back, Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic have found themselves allied to a host of blue chip labels that include Perspectives Digital, JOOF and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat.

Making a statement of intent with a debut remix of Andre Sobota's "Concluded" for Proton Music in May 2017, September's "Gamma Rays" represented a first original release alongside a pair of outstanding remixes. Now returning to the label, the Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic remix takes the core rhythmic groove of "Glass Elevator" and takes it firmly into dance floor friendly territory with a pounding beat and wonderfully evolving melodic components. Erupting at the mid-point a huge eight-note stab hypnotically pulses across the track's third movement with a chorus of outstanding additional production material.

Making significant waves in a very short timeframe, French producer, Ahmad Qatramiz, has risen to prominence with his Quatri moniker and a unique blend of deep house and electronica to create "electronic, organic emotional, music". Aiming to bring emotional content through analogue sounds and club friendly tracks, Quatri's work for German imprint, Nie Wieder Schlafen, has been exceptional. Centred around the "Into the Oblivion" EP in late 2017, the triptych provided a window into the French producer's musical soul with accompanying remixes from Kincaid and Rudy. Now debuting on Proton Music with a stunning reworking of "Glass Elevator", Quatri has created a wonderful dark and brooding interpretation that imbues the original with a deliciously laid-back rhythmic cadence and subterranean kick. Developing subtly over a near ten-minute voyage, an organic lead provides elegant vibrato detail that is then accompanied by a counterpoint melody that has its origins in wooden pan-pipes that flutter across the mid-range with coruscating delays that pan the stereo spectrum. Resonating the melodic themes of "Glass Elevator", Quatri's skill is to take them and extend them into innovative directions to create a work of genuine skill and craft.

A pair of remixes from Michael and Levan, Stiven Rivic and Quatri find the "Glass Elevator" shimmering and sparkling in a new aural glow.

For our latest Seladorian adventure, chapter 82 no less, we welcome back to the fold a potent partnership who have previous with the label, German Producer Florian Kruse and the self proclaimed South African slam poet, Lazarusman. 

The duo previously teamed up for one of our highlights of 2017 with their ‘Proof Of Life’ release which found favour from all quarters of the electronic cognoscenti and now they return with another standout in the majestic, ’Breathe’. 

Built upon Florian’s tight pulsating groove, Lazarus extols the benefits of that simple, life sustaining action we all largely take for granted in his own unmistakable, idiosyncratic style. It’s a winning combination. Listen up. 

The task of remixing Breathe falls to a producer who we are overjoyed to have on the label. In fact, we are truly honoured to have the World’s first ever Frankey solo production whilst his regular recording partner Sandrino is absent on maternity leave following the birth of his first child. 

No stranger to being in the studio alone of course, Frank has flown solo before under his other alias, Beckers, and he shows off his own personal production prowess yet again here with a deeper rework that had us purring from the get-go. 

To complete the package, Florian also throws further fuel on the fire with ’Skyarp’. Like so many of the bonus tracks we have on our EPs at Selador, they’re not just here to make up the numbers, they’re all star players in their own right and here’s another that demands your attention. A peak time, acid laced monster that’ll set pulses racing.

Exclusive Sifa & Ivory feat. Oluhle 'Wonani'

Belgian DJ, producer and Depth head honcho Sifa teams up with Daniel Tagliaferri alias Ivory and London based singer Oluhle for Sol Eterno's second catalogue number, 'Wonani'. After Fabian Braunbeck's first release on the label, 'Ullalet', which was one of the most well-received Afro-House tracks of 2017, Sifa and Ivory come up with a new musical approach for the genre and its future. While Oluhle's vocals underline the African influence in the track it's the instrumental that defines a different route the genre could take. Sifa and Ivory focus on rather 'ravey' attributes, meaning the duo emphasizes on trance influenced melodies and synth-riffs and a tight bass drum instead of commonly used percussive influenced characteristics. But exactly for this particular reason, combining African vocals with traditional electronic music elements, the track depicts an important area of overlap of the genres and represents a darker and more club oriented approach of the Afro-House genre.

Chapter 24's next tale is spun by Italian act Three Hands Collective (THC), with the powerful Lunare EP. The trio - composed of Riccardo 'Cap' Cappelli, Riccardo 'Ohm Guru' Rinaldi and Luca 'Lu-Me' Mercatali - combine their musical and technical experience to create an original and captivating sound, which has become a favourite with the likes of Tale of Us, Fur Coat and Andre Hommen. Here they serve up an impactful five-tracker.

Title track 'Lunare' offers a peak-time euphoric flourish, marrying timeless, transcendent trance chords with an afro techno roll.
