This project unites artists from two labels, Chinese based bié Records and Latin America based Shika Shika, separated by very contrasting cultures and thousands of kilometers but united by shared values and a shared musical vision.

Driven by values of creativity, borderless music and fairness for artists, both labels showcase artists that unite electronica with ambient and folk music, purposefully existing outside of the globalized, copy-paste of the mainstream music industry.

A mix of intrigue and mutual respect led to the birth of this compilation, with the two labels teaming up to match together a group of their artists to remix each other. The result is a widely imaginative, fresh and diverse selection of tracks featuring some of the prominent producers such as DaYe, Lim Giong; Hualun, Sun Dawei and Rainsoft from bié records and DJ Raff, Terror:Cactus, Numa Gama, Barrio Lindo and El Búho from Shika Shika.

I played this set live for RTR dancers on November 10, 2023. The dance took place on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

RtR - Primal Dance - Ecstatic Dance Wave - November 10-2023

Over the past several months I've been really inspired by some of the incredible music contained within this ecstatic dance set. In fact, so inspired that I created a little mini tour of California so that I could bring this music to more people. 

It's a deep dive into some of the potent alchemical music that is bubbling out of Nigeria and South Africa right now, Creating a potent vortex of transformation invoking the elements and ancestors on the dance floor. 

Bringing us through a meditation on gratitude and expanding that out worldwide into higher tempo Drum&Bass from the UK by Jersey & Fred Again... and then full circle back into the African hybrid prayer of Jon Baptiste. 

This is a full spectrum journey that was first born out of the dance floor at Kalani and found it's fullest expression landing here in Oakland at Sweets Ballroom where I could feel the likes of John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Aretha and others that have blessed the air inside since the opening in 1920. 

Truly an honor to play ecstatic dance here at this EPIC VENUE where it has been going strong since 2008!

Sawtooth is inspired by the beauty, excitement, fragility, and danger of the high alpine environment of the Rock Mountains.

A mix of Global Bass, Tribal Trap, Bali House for the ecstatic crowd.

Ecstatic Fire Dance is an intentional self-guided movement exercise created by A.R.S. 111 as a tool to navigate, release, and integrate suppressed emotions that are traditionally considered to be "negative". Prepare to confront your own anger, fear, and insecurities as we take a deep dive into our collective shadow. Let the music be your anchor and your motivation. Make sure you're in a safe space where you can fully surrender to this practice and don't hold anything back.

An electrifying stratosphere of vibrant realms and enchanting tonalities evolves with every breath of Martin Nonstatic’s hand-crafted synthscapes and mind-massaging oscillations, “Ligand” is an ambient downpour of dramatic euphoria.
Dark, yet soulful minimalism is engraved within the atmospheric frequencies that paint its melancholy walls, a downtempo outcry of distant, mechanical pads and dystopian melodies crawling against an auditory horizon.

Layla is an Intuitive Channel and Light Language Vocalist. 
Light Language is a series of tones, sound harmonics, symbols and speech that is made up of Universal Light. This language is something that our soul speaks and isn’t necessarily meant to be understood by our conscious mind. When we are open to receiving the transmission in the way that serves our highest good, we surrender and allow the frequencies to flow into our subconscious mind and adjust energetic patterning that is out of synch into sacred geometry (it’s original structure).
