About a year ago I launched my label IPSO. First release was a collab with Michael Mayer. We made Dogma 1 and 2, and the tracks have been in heavy rotation ever since. I remember a magical morning at Panorama Bar where we played Dogma 1. It was one of those moments we all live for, where everything fell in place. Magical.

This summer IPSO 002 is released and this time it's a collab with none other than Tiga. We spent a couple of great days in my Copenhagen Studio, and I'm really proud of what we came up with.

Hastings aka Paul Hastings Kitala is known as one of the most revered members of the Nairobi house scene. Paul has made it his duty to share house beats with a growing global audience as he continues to fine tune his art of mixology while building confidence and learning the intricacies of the music industry with that constant zeal to satisfy his clients and make sure that they are having a good time listening to his signature style of house mixes and mashups that take the audience on an adventure leaving them pumped with a high demand to crave more good house music. 

Hastings proudly hails from Kariobangi South, a city tucked deep in the east of Nairobi. His mom was a staunch soul music lover and it tricked down his 6 siblings. 

Music has always been his passion ever since he was very young. At age 10, he got introduced to a Daft Punk album called Discovery (2001) and ever since then he has always had soft spot for house music over all other genres.  

Since high school to college he always got time to gather new house music records while he played for his peers in parties from backyard barbeques to co-operate parties to club events & outdoor gigs within and out of the country. He and his friend formed Sanctified To Oblivion in 2012 and they were playing house music at small scale events around till late 2013 where he decided to break out on his own as Hastings under his own label and entertainment company, Beats Per Minute Entertainment after he attained his diploma in Aeronautical Engineering at age 22.

With his dial firmly set to musical creations, Hastings’ 2014 was filled with large amounts of studio time as he structured his classical debut LP ‘Just Fine’ that rocked airwaves in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in 2015 as that was where he started his journey as an artist. Occupying studio time with some of the greatest artists and DJs in United Arab Emirates, he learned and gained vast skills and experience in making, producing and playing house music. 

He returned to Kenya late 2015 after his successful endeavours in the middle east and ever since he has been continuing his adventures of spreading house music to the world by playing in over 50 club shows and well renowned local festivals and outdoor shindigs.
