Drum and bass (also written as "drum 'n' bass"; commonly abbreviated as "D&B", "DnB" or "D'n'B") is a genre of electronic music characterised by fast breakbeats (typically 165-185 beats per minute) with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, sampled sources, and synthesizers. The music grew out of breakbeat hardcore (and its derivatives of darkcore, and jungle). The popularity of drum and bass at its commercial peak ran parallel to several other homegrown dance styles. A major influence was the original Jamaican dub and reggae sound that came into London in the 1980s. By the 1990s, this had grown into the jungle/drum and bass sound which the UK is famous for. Another feature of the style is the complex syncopation of the drum tracks' breakbeat.

Sledgehammer Style. Longtime Badman and Twist-o-matic bombshadow, Hatchet Jimmy's nocturnal North American onslaught began in the 90's. Coming from a experimental grindgore, punk and math-metal background, his transition to Drum And Bass, Breakcore, Nurofunk and Skullstep music seems only natural, as his attraction towards loud noise and a divergent lifestyle lead him in his own direction. As an onstage presence his political statements are represented in the varying styles of music he performs. Whether it be dub dancehall, gunman ragga, or high speed drum n bass, you'll either find yourself singing along or pumping your fist, stage-diving, throwing elbows in the pit and getting raucous. 

In the past several decades he's played drums, guitar, bass, performed as a vocalist and run sound in dozens of bands who's sonic explosiveness spans more genres than could be articulated. In addition he's also DJ'ed, booked and promoted hundreds and hundreds of events throughout the region in dozens of cities as well as in and around the Cincinnati area. Having been instramental in the formation and management of local underground groups like Domus Aurelius, Smaller Axes, HatchetmaX and Fetal Dick Skins, Hatchet Jimmy is prepared to take Cincinnati Undergound's newest RAVETRASH deeper into the shadows of the underground. Teaming up with local artists like Beat Poet, TWINHOOKER, Sociopath, Genocide, Dj Embolic, Digital Psykosis, Tarantula Head, Smasher, DJ Scythe, DJ Canada and DJ Rumble, Jimmys ready to take CU's Ravetrash back out to the bars, clubs and warehouses. Above all, Hatchet Jimmy's shows are not for the faint of heart. In the end, it is likely that speakers will be blown and random items broken from the sheer bass attack.
