Now it's finally time to uncover the first release of Artaphine Records. Here, two worlds collide creating various shapes in between. On one hand, we have Tom Place, who is more known for his breakbeat excursions on Childsplay and Fly By Night, while Clotur takes more of a dive into the deep and groovy style of techno that resulted in releases on Counterchange and his own label Warok.

Kicking off the EP with the solo track from Tom Place, setting off with the same pace as 'Tearing Down Your Walls', released on Artaphine’s VA last year. After that, 'Melting Shapes' hits the perfect example of finding balance between artists with different production styles. 

With 'Object Model', the artists take the offbeat excursion while Clotur closes the EP with a 9-minute journey to the various corners of his production skills.

Anthony Linell's latest suite of tracks cruise and drift with their head up. With a dizzy palette of terse and
winding melodies, 'Sculpting Energy' feels like another new avenue for Linell on his unbreakable run of
EPs.
Drone surveillance-style patterns remain intact this time around, hinting at the unmistakable frozen planes
of his previous works, yet with the opening track there's the smack of bustling heat, as its title 'Therme'
alludes to. The EP's closing piece, 'Vision of the Imminence', presents a familiar sullen theme. Perhaps
the measure of his latest work's difference is in the modulating barbed wire-percussion and birdsongsynths
that wrap the track's cold core?

Returning to Earwiggle for the first time since one of our early hits (his Midwest Whippersnappers EP with Paul Birken), the inimitable Freddy Fresh provides some choice material from the year 1996, remastered and ready for modern consumption.

We start with the tunnelling acid tour-de-force of "Abraxas", that first appeared on Freddy's "Analog Space Funk" album on Analog, followed by a similarly spaced out (yet previously unreleased) track of the same period, "Aerial". 

Originally released on Cari Lekebusch's Hybrid label, "Logical Grooves 1" is prototype supernatural techno on an almost morbid tip, while "Barogue" is a classic Freddy Fresh cut to wrap up (fittingly taken from his "Accidentally Classic" album on Harthouse), where weighty Mr. Fingers style chords play over an epic and deep-building exotic soundscape. "1996" marks a special snapshot in time - when Freddy Fresh did 'out there' techno in a way that no-one else did, techno that we believe will always stand the test of time. 

Also included is a special A4 poster of a young Freddy patching in the studio, giving a small glimpse of the Minneapolis great at his weird and wonderful work.

In the Ponorogo series, We are continuing revealing the story behind the label which is inspired by the fascinating Indonesian culture. French artist JC Laurent returns to label with a hypnotic cut in collaboration with label co-founder Coltur entitled ‘The Vault’ featuring syncopated, spacious rhythms, zappy synths revolving underneath the reverberating bass grooves before Enemy Records’ Blenk & Materia’s Ruhbarb join to create a shimmering techno roller in the form of ‘DayOne’ which pulsates with breaky drums and rubbery modulations. On the flip, Skryptom’s Moteka & Shekon provide a psychedelic experience within ‘Gallia’ featuring tunneling oscillations, rising synths and undulating effervescence taking you on an otherworldly trip until Evth & Hearthug round things off with ‘Patchworks’ which offers up acid squelches, alleviating, angelic pads and scattered, broken percussion which keeps the enthralling energy flowing until the end.
