On March 2020 the world was abruptly thrown into collective disarray. The pandemic stopped almost everything dead in its tracks. No social gatherings, self-isolation, a sense of panic and bewilderment prevailed. An industry that had become so dependent on human connection and unity, was suddenly switched off and put on pause for an unforeseeable future.It was in this climate that The Louder Than Chaos project was born, facilitated by Soma Records head honchos and Techno protagonists Slam. A collaborative project with friends, colleagues and contemporaries normally only seen at airports, or events, now brought together under a completely different set of circumstances, allowing for a purposeful connection in a time of disconnect. The focus of the project is built on a powerful mutual participation, remotely constructed over time and fully intended for holding court on peak time dance floors when they inevitably return. Featuring collaborations between Slam & Hector Oaks, Slam & 999999999, Slam & Keith Tucker (AKA Optic Nerve), Slam & Amelie Lens, Slam & Rebekah, Slam & AnD and finally Slam & Perc.

Each EP features specially commissioned artwork from German based artist PPP Panic, which consolidates into one constructive piece over the 5 releases.

Opening Volume 1, Slam pair with Italian rave starters 999999999 for Conveyor. Arguably one of the hardest tracks in the project, both artists combine to unleash a furious and twisted acid techno stomper. Madrid born, vinyl enthusiast Hector Oaks is next up, joining Slam on a proper, attitude filled techno excursion with Pathfinder; its heady melodic elements mask a driving and potent track. Detroit originator Optic Nerve helps Slam to close out the EP with the Motor City electronics of Machine Conflict. Early Slam influence mixes perfectly with the Detroit native’s unique electro sound.

Carbon Black opens uncompromisingly with thunderous drums, perfectly tuned to give that heavy stomping effect, continuously increasing in intensity before relenting momentarily to a subdued pad before rocketing back in, all guns blazing. Schism goes on a more industrial tip with its more mechanized feel and crashing percussion building slowly and with purpose. Short, abrupt stabs give rise to the tension that is quickly cleaved by clinical, razor-sharp percussion

Moments In Time welcome a host of hot talents for a new Various Artists compilation that kicks off their 2020 on a fine footing. 

Opening up the EP is label boss Rudosa, and his tune 'Dominance' which has already gained huge support from Amelie Lens, Charlotte De Witte, Richie Hawtin, and ANNA. It comes after a string of Beatport chart-toppers on labels like Suara, Noir and We Are The Brave and is another standout offering. It is a real acid monster, with hammering techno drums and warped synths barrelling along at an enthralling pace. 

Frenchman Blicz has had props from Amelie Lens, who included one of his tunes on her fabric mix, and with 'Gate 212' he lays down more of that perfectly dark, driving, no frills and uncompromising techno. 'When Angels Cry' keeps the pressure on with more streamlined acid techno grooves that are embellished with icy hi hats and rumbling bass. It comes from the Dutch outfit Hush & Sleep whose dark melodies have taken them all over the world in the last 12 months. Next, Italian pair Reform have impressed on outlets such as Etruria beat, Second State and Quartz Rec and get hands in the air with their trance land 'Holy Graal.' 

Last of all, Gijensu's 'Inferno Onleyene' is white knuckle techno with searing synth lines and hard hitting drums that take you into the next dimension.

This is edgy melodic techno with real future energy and makes a huge impact, emotionally and physically.

Slam (aka Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle) are a tour de force on the global techno circuit. Their unique, six deck, back-to-back DJ performances have seen the duo play leading clubs and festivals across the world. They are renowned for both their experience and their powerful, contemporary sound. 

They are co-owners of Glasgow's Riverside Festival, and also host the legendary Maximum Pressure warehouse parties, which showcase the best emerging local talent alongside some of the most established names in international techno.

Their iconic Soma Records label boasts in excess of 600 releases, hosting Mcmillan and Meikle's own productions and many of today's most cutting-edge techno artists.

The last few years have seen some of the duo's most prolific studio output as they continue to innovate and keep things moving forward, most recently with the release of their experimental full length record Athenæum 101. In addition, Slam have also remixed tracks from the likes of Planetary Assault Systems, Clouds, Dax J, Damon Wild, Richie Hawtin, and Truncate, to name just a few. 

Slam also host one of Techno's most respected weekly podcasts, Slam Radio, which has now surpassed over 400 episodes. The show allows the duo to demonstrate their conviction to creating and promoting music and vibes that provide an antidote to the mainstream by inviting fellow artists from the vibrant Techno scene, from obscure names to current trailblazers.
