For the 15th episode of the Concealed Series podcast we head to our homebase of Augsburg to dive deep into Paul Gorbachs' electrifying sound. Ever since the beginning of the pandemic he’s been humbly looking into furthering and improving his DJing and digging knowledge, while he also started to produce his own music. When there's no virus around, he and and the crew of Mælstrøm are usually planning events at the City Club and Hallo Werner.

This September will see the launch of the Benthic imprint with the ‘Assurance’ EP by Tbilisi, Georgia based artist Lucid Void (Arts Gallery).

Benthic is a new imprint coming out Istanbul, Turkey and aesthetically leaning towards deep, dubby and ambient Techno sonically with its releases. Here to inaugurate the launch of the imprint, Georgia’s Lucid Void offers up four originals of hazy, nuanced deep techno.

Leading the release is ‘Envision’, laid out across five and a half minutes with bubbling percussive delays and broken drums alongside menacing bass swells and hypnotic chants. Title-track ‘Assurance’ follows next, shifting focus to robust 4/4 drums rhythmically while stirring in an amalgamation of cinematic synth textures and choppy bass stabs.

Following to kick-start the flip side is ‘Objection’, bringing a circling, dynamic and gritty bass lead to the forefront while resonant, modulating synths and tension building strings ebb and flow atop a dynamic drum groove. ‘Dogma’ then rounds out the release on a darker tip, bringing grinding bass tones, distorted rhythms and glass like chimes into the limelight.

We're ecstatic to announce that our tenth release will be done by someone who is only a few years older than this catalogue number by age, the incredibly young and talented Dallas-based Cratan, whose work has piqued the interest of some of the industry's biggest names.

"Advanced," the EP’s first offering is a propulsive track with a deft synth stab. During the breakdown, a barrage of slick percussive patterns emerge, surrounded by overdriven rides that insist on being played in a warehouse from the 1990s. With his slinky house-injected flavour, it's a formidable balance of tension and appropriation with "Call," which features a persuasive lead that periodically catches the light over a groovy bass. You'll be transported back to the days of good barebones techno with the title track "Crestfall," which features a panic stricken 16th note cascading percussion. Until you notice the overdriven elements tumbling their way with claps that slap a true classic feel.

This is the second instalment in a series of three 7" records which see Stefan Goldmann probing the upper temporal reaches of techno. Clocking in at 150 bpm, these tracks are bold and blazing signals for a collective return to highly energised club experiences. 'Danke Dingo' has stroboscopic grids of chords piercing through a heavy-set beat foundation. On the flip side 'Iron Hive' offers one assertive rhythmic manifestation surrounded by menacingly buzzing metallic swarms. More bouncy than harsh, this material shows impressively how different tempos allow for their own variety of joyful expression.

Rotterdam based dj and producer SAMOH dedicades a huge amount of his time to developing his own sounds and music. He practicly lives in his studio, where he works a lot on his music productions and live sets. Creating groovy and dark drum patterns and tweaking his acid-machines. His passion for synthesizers, quick dynamics, fast grooves and dark sounds all comes forth in his dj and live-sets.
