The exceptionally long, cold and frigid winter in the northern hemisphere is finally breaking, allowing the sun to greet us with its warmth and brightness.

Awakened by the beautiful song of the blackbird, we emerge from our melancholic hibernation with positive energy. We lose ourselves in a blissful rhythmic ecstasy in open air environments or heated backyards. Less basements. More air. 

We finally breathe again, and thus i welcome my second selection of pulsating house and techno tracks, inspired by the much awaited transition from winter to spring.

Selections 02: Spring Equinox

Maybe you were always destined to be sitting right where you’re sitting. 
Or maybe it’s a miracle that you managed to meet the people you did, knowing how many obstacles might have gotten in the way. Or maybe it’s nothing personal, and it was all just a coincidence. You never know.

In geometry, a tangent is the point at which a line “just touches” a curve, where they share precisely the same angle, before separating again and carrying on to infinity.

World Warmth 2 - Track selections May 2018

This track was made many hours into the night in spring 2015.
Recently found this laying around - a little free gift to all you lovely people out there!

Late night rework....

The Doors and Jim Morrison's psychedelic vibe and atmosphere is a big inspiration. Ever since watching 'Apocalypse Now' iv'e been very much in love with this track 'The End'.

When i started working with this track i wanted to keep as much of the original vibe as possible with a more dj-friendly approach incorporated mainly with the beat. I did some research on their producer Paul Rothchild and The Doors vocalist Jim - their techniques, mindset and way of thoughts. After reading a couple of articles and interviews i stumbled upon an interview were Rothchild describes how 'The End' was made.

I found out to my surprise they had been jamming without Jim for a while and when he came to the studio they turned out all the lights off everything except hardware gear. I wanted to copy this specific atmosphere and vibe as much as possible, listening to a lot of various The Doors music and also switching off all the lights in my studio except some chill candlelights and a dark ableton skin on my monitor. Haha.

I hope i managed to keep at least some of the vibe, energy and atmosphere from the original without moving the track too much in another direction.

A couple of months ago i had received a message in my soundcloud inbox from Giorgio Cencetti (DJ Farrapo). 
He enjoyed my music and asked if i could do a remix of his upcoming track "Restless Syndrome".
I heard the track and really enjoyed it, so i had to give it a go.

A few months later and here we are, my first official remix in a long time. Very happy with the result - hope you enjoy!
I wanted the track to breath a little bit more so i extended it pretty much, stretched the ukulele's and a groovy beating rhythm beneath it.

I came across the original track randomly on Youtube, and i was amazed. The track in itself is a minimal masterpiece with full focus on To Be Frank's beautiful vocals. I had to be very careful when remixing this because i still wanted it to be very similar to the original - with only a rhythm and a warm beat to even further focus his vocals. And not least, to be able to play it myself!

Yello - Desire (Haugli's Mix)

In a small fishing village located on a remote island, there was an elderly man who loved to stroll along the beach at sunset, leaving his footprints on the golden sand as he contemplated the infinite sea.

One evening, as he walked along the shore, he came across a young boy sitting on a rock, lost in his thoughts.

"What are you doing here all alone?" he asked kindly.

The boy looked up, surprised to be interrupted. "I'm just trying to understand the meaning of life," he replied weakly.

The elderly man smiled and sat down beside him. "The meaning of life is like this ocean we see before us," he said, gesturing towards the vastness of the sea. "Majestic and mysterious. We may not always understand it, but we must accept its flow."

The boy nodded, but still seemed perplexed.

"Look at the waves," the elderly man continued. "They're like the events of life. Some are high and tumultuous, others are gentle and serene. But in the end, they all crash upon the shore, leaving only smooth and uniform sand."

The boy watched the ocean attentively, reflecting on the old fisherman's words.

"Life is made up of moments that leave their mark," he said. "But just like footprints in the sand, they will eventually be erased by the tide of time. No matter how hard we try to leave our mark, in the end, everything will fade away."

The boy felt relieved of an invisible burden as he listened to the wise words of the elderly man. Perhaps there was no need to search for the meaning of life so anxiously. Perhaps all he needed was to learn to accept the flow of time and enjoy the present moment.

That night, as the tide silently rose on the beach, the elderly man and the boy sat together on the rock, watching the sea shimmer in the moonlight. And in that moment, in the quiet of the island, they found the inner peace they had been seeking.
