"The piece owes part of its genetic make-up to Michel Foucault's Seven propositions on the seventh angel (sept propos sur le septième ange). Originally commissioned as music for dance, I searched for a music which could embrace the movement of the human body following breath rather than beat, presence rather than pose. I sought out the moments in our lives when words escape us and all that remains in the language of our mouths is grunts and breathlessness. In doing so, I found myself return repeatedly to the precipice of rationale and without unwillingness, leap head first into the mysterious place where filth and ecstasy live out an unbreakable bond, again and again."
