For Clandestino's fifth offering Berlin's Italiano in residence José Manuel drops his unique strain of exotic club music; once again exploring deep, ritualistic and 
tribal influences to great dramatic effect. "Human Behaviour" is a woozy nine minute opus. Rich in atmospherics, chanting and ethnic flutes. Clandestino's remix refines the track for the dance-floor, retaining the atmosphere and injecting a driving 303 line and jamming Afro keys. Upping the tempo on Bangalore a great ethnic guitar hook drives along the groove while disorienting chants and tribal percussion flutter underneath. Mushroom's Project turn out an essential blissful sundown version by extending out the pads and adding gentle warm keys.

On Talking Heads cover ‘Slippery People’ the band leans further into their unfolding universe of highly danceable, organic, human funk. Rousing arches of strings swing across a floor of buttery bass and magnetic drums to animate a vintage aura of flair and guts.
This carnal glamour is manipulated into new shapes and sizes by Chris Coco and Scorpio Twins respectively before the bonus track ‘Mr. Mercury’ jumps to a chunky laid back disco atmosphere and kitch vocals.

Rheinzand - Slippery People (Chris Coco Extended Disco Version) - s0360

They glimmered and flickered down below as he floated amidst the darkness. Up in the sky above Canary Wharf he gazed out upon a bittersweet city. That merry go round, it kept on spinning, endlessly turning in a cosmic blur which seemed as if it might never stop. This was London, a chaotic bubble in the midst of a dying kingdom, yet all of the lights kept shining brightly on. It were as if they'd been left on for him alone to wander upon the moonlit sky and reflect upon the place he'd once existed. That was it, it had to be. 

Calabashed are an assortment of musicians based out of London's Total Refreshment Centre. They are Maria Osuchowska, Donna Thompson, James Howard, Raimund Wong, Betamax  of The Comet is Coming, Joshua Idehen & Alabaster DePlume. Their music sits somewhere between jazz and electronica, touching upon elements of hip hop and underpinned by beautiful, cosmic poetry which deciphers experience and life in the city.
