Oak trees are usually connected to old knowledge and deep rooted power, serving as symbols of strength and wisdom. Unsurprisingly, as HAUSVRAU carries the Portuguese spelling of oak as a last name, it felt important for her to stay rooted while on a path through such gigantic topics. Each track speaks of her experiences and processes through life, mostly about what she finds and loses.

The original 5 tracks came to life in 2019 as HAUSVRAU first explored music producing. Now, more mature in her artistry, she brings this project back to life as her debut EP, accompanied by this photography book in partnership with Mik Matter.

The bonus track, also made in partnership with Mik Matter under the alias m1k0, appeared later on in the process of producing this book. A musical collaboration felt like the right place to bring their friendship deeper into the work as they spend a lot of time showing tracks to each other. The track is a remix of Transe, a track produced by HAUSVRAU for the compilation Futur 8000 Hits, by the collective Futur 8000.

This whole project reflects HAUSVRAU’s development over the years, her new connections to herself and the world around her while staying rooted in what she believes in. And those new connections to the world around her make OAK the birthplace of glamcore and the founding stone of the work of the Aurora Ferro collective.
