After an extended hiatus, we're delighted to kick-start the third season of our mix series with none other than Nizar Sarakbi! 

Nizar is a passionate DJ and talented producer, whom we've been following for years now because of his slick selections and involvement in the independent music platform Sonic Resistance, which he runs together with two friends. 

Deservedly, Nizar has been on frequent club and festival duties over the past few months, so we're super excited to let him show off parts of his dope collection on our mix series. Viel Spaß and enjoy the ride!

The music coming from Vrsion & Nikol’s collaboration captured our attention from the very first listen. With this tenth O.C.D release, we strive to showcase timeless music that we feel will be appreciated as much now as well into the future.
 
Together they are ‘Body Copy’, a collaborative project between two artists which blossomed in Leeds. Gavin Herlihy (Vrsion), a name that won’t be new to those who were around the early 2000s when he was releasing his music with the most interesting labels of the time and lately on Craig Richard’s The Nothing Special label. 

Chris Nicholls (Nikol), resident of the Leeds-Barcelona project MASS has taken steps into his production career with promising results on their first record. For us, this EP has a very special flavour, expressing darker tones compared to the latest EPs on the label.

Body Copy / Nikol - Between The Lines

CMDRPX and RPX16035 present the first various artists in collaboration and unite the two souls that were already traveling on the same vibrations, opening the v.a is an iconic figure from the underground world, @francescofarfaofficial who with his "Soul Engineering" drags you into his world hypnotic, a fusion track that combines his unique style that looks to the future with bleep and acid sounds with a non-invasive groove that encompasses everything and makes the track one of a kind.

Also on side A we find @niki_ilb with his "Acid lover" track which focuses on an IDM sound and which opens the doors to a conceptual acid and Deep style.

@gianluca.pellerano opens the B side with "Stanza di musica", a record projected onto the dancefloor with hypnotic voices, sounds and textures that will drag you towards new musical horizons.
The B2 side was entrusted to @giuseppe__angeloro with his track "Mentalism dance" with a raw sound reminiscent of the 90s, an acid texture and present percussions that make the track evolve in a more introspective direction.

Lastly we find the duo @gianluca.pellerano & @caciotechnology with their "Mango bet" the two combine their styles perfectly the track has an Electro base with a texture projected into the

Up next for Tapes #139 is London based DJ and co-founder of Plus Ones, Vandeleur. 

He cut his teeth playing extended house party sets while at university 10 years ago and is still happiest when hidden away in a corner with an extended set time, friendly faces and a big bag of records. Not to be pinned down to one genre, you can usually find him keeping the party going with groove-led house, minimal and garage.

“I recorded this mix post-Glastonbury 2024, pre-general election. It felt like a really hopeful moment against a backdrop of so much uncertainty / conflict / division in the world. I wonder whether any of that comes through…”

Estimulo is a familiar face in the German capital. Following in the steps of his peers, he made the move and has found his sound in the Boomcity. Here, he has amassed an impressive house collection ranging across a fan of styles, encompassing every variation in the House.

We met Estimulo through his notorious Estimulo Show and impressed by his music and work, we invited him to join our podcast series with a special treat. Listening to his music and talking with him, we realized there was an opportunity to build something unique that stood apart from our usual releases. We asked Estimulo if he would craft a hybrid set bringing together a ragga dub, reggae sound, crossed with his house vibes and the finality blew us away!
