Going the Distance

The first installment of my Song-A-Week Campaign! I have decided to record a song a week for a year straight in an effort to catalog a life of writing original music. The songs may be old or new, produced or raw, but they will all be originals and I will release a new song every Friday until this time next year. 

This first song was interesting to record this week, because when I wrote it I was a moody 19 year old boy that felt things oh so sad and profound. So in an effort to pay tribute to this younger, brooding  version of myself I recorded a slow, sad song that would really would have made me feel something and at the end I would say something like "Dude, verrry cool." So here it is, Bitter Sweet!

Never Knew The Words seems appropriate as a second installment of this Song-A-Week campaign as the lyrics speak to the fleeting nature of any moment as it folds into the following moments there after. It has been a good reminder for me to document these songs as they are and then to move forward. There is no time to waste, we must move on.

Week 3 of this campaign is once again reaching way back in the archives. Closet Skeletons was another song that came from a prolific young man grasping being out on his own in Anchorage circa 2004.

What may be considered one of my "classics," this song has been around for most of my adult life. In an effort to do a little something different, I invited Emma Bitter and Morgan Smith to bring this track to the next spooky level.
