Mixing ambient and shoegazing music with numerous metal and rock influences "Sirens" is the debut album by Hampshire, UK based duo Oceanus.

Formed in 2008 by Alex Fawcett (Arboretus) and Rob Honey (Damn Robot! & Inachus), Oceanus performed extensively across the United Kingdom as a 5 piece before the band was forced into an undetermined hiatus in 2011.

A year later Alex and Rob, who have now been writing and performing together in various guises for around a decade, decided to revive Oceanus and begin releasing new music.  Sirens is just the beginning of what promises to be a bright future for the post-metallers...

"We charged a small band of selected artists with the brief of creating ‘music to sleep to’. If you look right back to the very roots of ambient and drone music, this idea is something that’s been explored many times over the years. Not striving for mere cliché, we wanted to give a current crop of artists the chance to express themselves with this oft-explored theme. We wondered what new techniques and textures might crop up and if our chosen few would draw influence from sounds explored previously for this conceptual venture.

"With its roots loaning from a highly successful university project, the first Oathless album in two and a half years is at times as academic as it is musical. Regardless, "Peripheral: Music for an Imaginary Film" still contains the emotional depth present in all previous releases from the Stoke-on-Trent artist. 

Perhaps the artist's most dynamic release to date, tracks range from the dark and almost desparate to glistening, soothing numbers and a large amount of experimentation in the form of the penultimate offering. Carrying on from where the last album left off, this collection of songs is still highly atmospheric, reverberant and glides along slowly, with much cleaner production than previously seen before. Each little detail has been taken into account and is deliberate; the sound offering a minimalist approach through processed piano, strings, guitars and synthesisers. 
'Peripheral' is a release that can be enjoyed in a variety of surroundings, whether in the background or as its own listening experience. It is a culmination of dreams, thoughts, ideas and visions - the soundtrack to an imaginary film."
