Afterhours 025: Haydn ☁

Haydn Morgan broke through in house and techno through nothing other than hard graft: in 2001 he started playing as a resident DJ near his hometown of Bangor, until some years later he was also running 3 respected record labels. 

The best-known of these is almost certainly FA>lE Records, whose minimal techno sound has been favoured by Romanian stalwarts like Rhadoo. Then there’s also Curtea Veche and DreamsAreNotInside, on which he’s signed a string of typically minimalist artists from the same corner of Eastern Europe. 

As well as his Wales residency Morgan has appeared at northern institutions mumu and Louche, while he’s also a regular with us on Sunday nights at WetYourSelf! As we invite him back to the club for a full FA>lE Records showcase this Sunday, he sent us over a mix of luscious soundscapes in anticipation.

Each of his label's stay true to their own unic sound, completing a sonic tapestry that's now home to some of the best and brightest production talents the world has on offer. From Romania's rising stars @Herck & @Dragosh, to Serbian talents @Shoxy & Petar @Cvetkovic & Ukrainian minimal maestro @Silat-Beksi.. all have set their names to 12" wax for one of Haydn's imprints. These artists are part of the next generation of producers who are set to propel minimal house and techno onto new heights. And Haydn’s direct involvement in providing them a platform for expression is a testament to his unerring dedication to music as movement.

With almost 25 years experience mastering his craft behind the controls, Haydn, from North Wales earnt his first residency back in 2001 at a club at Time nightclub Bangor. Since then he has mark his mark on the scene globally, exhibiting his deep and diverse sound through his intelligent and captivating sets and impressive label showcases in major UK cities such as Liverpool (mumu), Leeds (Louche) Birmingham (Social Underground/TRMNL) and London (Fabric/Into The Woods)Watergate, Golden Gate & Renate  Berlin, resident at Gottwood Festival and had numerous tours of the USA, Canda amongst other countries such as Poland, Switerzland, Belgium, Bulgaria and Slovakia and many more!!
