I wrote these words while sitting on ancient ruins in Palenque, Mexico two springs ago. A white eagle was flying overhead in the crisp blue air.

Aguila Blanca

I wrote this song while living in Seattle in 2017, a year full of self-discovery as I worked as a musician and preschool teacher. I was living in a communal house, working hard to make my dreams as an artist come true, and along with the beauty and joy of all those things, came a heavy shadow side that needed to be seen and heard. I made music and art about accepting the darkness, loneliness, shame and other shadowy things that were coming up for me. The ultimate messages I was left with were: Give love one more try. Keep going. Dance with the shadows. 

This recording is a raw voice memo I made on my phone on the day that I finished the song. Many friends and loved ones have asked me to record it more officially. I plan to one day, but for now it feels important to share the song in its original state, as the emotions of the words were so fresh in my heart when I recorded this one.
