I'm a sound editor and a great fan of electronic music. Edits I do include Low Pass Filters, Bass Boosting, Equalization, slowing down tracks, removing vocals, removing noise, and removing excess parts of a song. 
I also do a lot of bass analysis using Spectrum Lab, edit using Audacity and Adobe Soundbooth, and I use a tone generator to produce specific bass waves.

The slowed down songs are only audible using good headphones, bass ear buds, or subs. Though I do caution you when listening to watch the volume. I also don't recommend playing these on speakers or subs unless they're cheap/broken since these have never been tested other than on bass headphones.
