Taken from his forthcoming Polyphasic EP for experiment label Ortem, the track blends influences from dub techno into the 170 template, starting sparse and slowly building in a light layer of drumfunk influenced beats over the backbone of the track. Deep, dark and utterly hypnotic...look for this one coming Aug 3rd at Bandcamp with other stores following two weeks later.

Subminimal - Konl [Premiere]

Ortem 009 is the many phased work of Subminimal. Hailing from Iceland he brings us four complex, rhythmical tracks that sit perfectly together.

Data Loader Is the half time sound of fjords injected with an electrical pulse. This head nodder picks up with shakers, coconut shells and a look into a dystopian landscape.

Konl takes the reigns and gallops off with drums and percussion of a more urgent nature. There are hints of ‘Ipcress file’ and ‘Get Carter’ meshed together with techno bass, an off beat stab and bursts of rolling drums.

Austari Kælir builds with anticipation, a signpost looms from its surroundings, a solid drum keeps time, just a growl of bass, they cross a bridge, a synth line flows like the stream running under it. Its desolate, but hectic, there are mountains in the distance, there’s a presence. A craft lands in the distance.

Polyphasic opens with melancholy keys is underpinned by a rigid hi hat and round bass. Its initial drum work hints at trip hop and is complemented by chops as it rolls.
Its both fast and slow, lush but melancholic….many faces, many phases.

Knifecast: Episode 001

Rivers and Poems is a collaboration work between Japanese ambient/drone musician Nobuto Suda and the Icelandic Bistro Boy. Drums and melodies layered on top of dramatic soundscape, merging into poems of sound, floating in space like a river.
