Diogo Carriço’s new single “Manifesto” arrives like a glitch in the simulation — unnervingly precise, eerily expressive, and steeped in a cybernetic thrill. Built from a posthuman concept that toys with body-technology augmentation and its dystopian edge, Carriço’s work folds high-concept theory into visceral sound design. The result? A track clashing ecstatic electronics with a pianist with robotic fingers—or perhaps a piano possessed by algorithmic ghosts.

Drawing inspiration from Lorenzo Senni’s trance deconstructions and Quayola’s computational aesthetics, “Manifesto” pays homage to the uncanny magic of a Disklavier piano—a real-world, MIDI-responsive instrument that plays itself. During an artistic residency in 2023, Carriço used this futuristic setup to script piano cascades that ripple at inhuman speeds, warping acoustic tradition into something alien and beautiful. “Ghost in the Shell has this scene where a character that is about to type on a computer keyboard suddenly has his hands transformed into a multiplicity of high speed robotic fingers. I wondered how it would be to be able to play the piano like that”, he says.

But “Manifesto” isn’t just a sonic experiment. It’s a performance of control and chaos. Carriço manipulates a synthesizer in real time with gestural data from his left hand—processed through his own custom software, Qi—while the right hand plays keys. This split-body coordination, enabled by cutting-edge hand-tracking tech, gives the performance a ghostly fluidity and a sense of physical detachment, like watching a cyborg in ecstasy.

The piano—treated here more as a synthesizer than a classical instrument—is stretched to its conceptual limits: with muted and plucked strings, spectral shifts, simulated altered soundboard characteristics and surreal attack envelopes, the familiar timbre is unrecognizably evolved. At moments of eerie stillness, a talkbox interjects with abrupt “oi”s and “ui”s—silly, sarcastic, destabilizing—rupturing the dream like a system warning message.

Released on a Friday the 13th, June, “Manifesto” feels like an apt dispatch from a world teetering on the edge of techno-bliss and collapse. It doesn’t ask if posthuman evolution is good or bad. It just sounds like what comes after.

And yes, he goes heavier, he bangs that nail on it’s head fulfilling the intention with one blow and bangs it again for good measure.
These three tunes bring that glitchy sound that in the USA is often associated with artists like Tipper, Joe Cicada, Resonant Language, KLO etc, however BRĀN has been dropping goods like this for quite some time and has utilized that time to refine his sound into something unique.
These tunes hit hard with a clarity that knocks the kilter off-kilter and then, to keep you on your toes, knocks it back on and off-kilter a few more times. The glitch is strong in this man and he makes it known, the production is top notch, the sound is crisp and clean and the bass hits you in all the good spots.

16. Frasseck & Freitag - Strange Loops

‘Aching for Sleep’ is the perfect introduction to the music of Low Point High. The track is steeped in lush, hypnagogic aural imagery that will appeal to anyone with an interest in the seminal Warp roster as it traverses it’s five minute runtime. Hazy ambient tones merge with synth-strings and found sounds as the shifting beat pulls everything inexorably forward. The song’s micro and macro call- and- response teases answers, but instead leaves the listener with an uneasy sense of unquenchable longing.

Vijunns is the audio-visual project of LA-based music producer and art director Jeremy Raskin. Since 2018, Raskin has explored the terrain between ambient and techno, carving out a space beyond rave euphoria and the contemplative depths of electronica rich with lucid imagery and immersive storytelling.

This unity of sound and concept reveals new territory for Raskin on “Collapse”, a self-described 'soundtrack to the end of the world' that explores the tensions defining our current socio-political epoch.

Raskin continues to expand his post-IDM palette with modular and 90s-era digital synthesis, lacing the sonics of his prior works with an undertone of darkness, which lends a weighty grit to his trademark sound. Rather than indulge in IDM's solipsistic introspection, he instead applies its sharp edges and diffuse vapors to render a world in disarray.

“Collapse” unfurls cinematically, establishing an expansive, desolate space. On ‘Industry', sinuous chords shift and simmer while booming bass and insistent percussion apply the pressure. ‘Undone’ introduces soft, tender bodies; delicate melodies and gentle timbres winding through the ruin. 'Tessellation’ brings us somewhere sacred and mythic, where supernatural sounds and abstract rhythms induce a sense of transcendental purpose. Ultimately, “Collapse” arrives. Heart rending, gut-wrenching, potent, and final. As the credits roll, we are treated to Auragraph's remix of 'Industry', where the prolific darkwave mainstay morphs the original into a slab of club-ready breaks which maintains every ounce of the atmosphere established over the course of the LP.

Raskin’s visual sensibility is a statement within itself. The artwork provokes meditations on mass surveillance, emergent technologies, and the infinite feedback loop of content that primes a world teetering between a liberated, high-tech future and an alienated, inhuman dystopia.

James Young steps up for his first release on QRUK with the Nagasaki EP, a dark and driving UKG cut that leans into the moodier edges of Garage and Speedy G. The North Wales-based producer has already made waves with House releases on labels like Smashin Trax and Pogo House, but this new EP sees him pushing into heavier, more dancefloor-focused territory. Nagasaki is packed with chopped-up drums, eerie textures and a tough low-end that hits hard.

On remix duties is Kabo Cana, returning to the label after making a big impression with his debut I DON'T UNDERSTAND. His take on Nagasaki flips the original into a more club-ready, 90s inspired roller full of sub pressure and tight percussion. It's another strong showing from the Manchester-based producer who's quickly becoming an exciting name in the new wave of UKG.
