This session, England-based DJ Tankard (IG: instagram.com/finlaytankard, SC: @djtankard) presents a mix full of electro bass beats for dance music freaks.

DJ Tankard is a very new face on the scene, getting started less than 2 years ago. Despite this he’s gotten well involved in his local scene, supporting artists like Mall Grab and Kettama in shows this year, and recording selections for labels and collectives like @bricksweatrecs, @thegoodieroom and @lizardtapes_col . 

In the near future, you can expect to hear OG electro tunes out of Tankard. And of course, he will continue to express his passion for electro and bass genres and push this sound to wider audiences at every chance he can get.

Carlos, aka Random Vestax, is a Tarifa native who’s been shaping Seville’s underground electronic scene since 2016. Starting with the vinyl-only collective Retro Fever, he later joined Pure Bassline, a standout in breakbeat. Now co-running Dead Trax with Hartta, he hosts a show on 1020 Radio, and organizes events that have become an essential part of Seville’s nightlife. Known for his fluid, genre-spanning sets ranging, from ambient to footwork, Random Vestax has brought his signature sound to clubs across Andalucía, always keeping broken beats at the core of his performances as in this N2MU Podcast. Konerytmi - Moottoritie EP [No Static / Automatic // NSA009]

The next release on Ara-u’s No Static / Automatic comes from Konerytmi aka Kiril Junolainen. The Konerytmi project began in 2020 combining electro, techno and acid sounds with a gliding and clean-edged production aesthetic. On Moottoritie EP he channels in the energy and flow of traversing the speed-limitless autobahn while giving a cool nod to the aesthetic of Scandinavian electro sounds a la Stilleben Records.

First track Japanin-Automoto rolls in on a punchy groove, and builds itself up on squelching melodies, celestial synths and singing vocoders. Moottoritie was one of the first tracks produced under the Konertymi alias over 4 years ago (as is Vainio) and brings in the essence of a motorway experience as it speeds in with screeching sounds and bounces onwards on a melodic and playful bassline. 

The pace ups with Transmitteri, a driving and punching peak time number with a turning and evolving acid melody line. Vainio takes us onwards to a darker and deeper destination, with a tunnelling intensity to close the EP - mixing tightly formed beats with song-like melodies as is the foundation of this surgically crafted release.

With just a handful of releases on labels such as Solar One, Shipwrec, and Brokntoys, Luxus Varta has fast established himself as one of the most unique sounding producers in the field of electro music, an artist whose tracks stand miles apart from common genre tropes. A frequent collaborator of Detroit Grand Pubahs, Luxus Varta is by no means a stranger to dancefloor functionality, yet his music runs deeper, baring its electronic soul through intricate songwriting and immaculate sound design. 
“Colder” is a homage to human solitude, a reflection on the breakdown of human relationships, when callousness takes over from emotion, and physical contact becomes but a perfunctory exercise. Luxus Varta translates these feelings into five tracks that contrast harshness with beauty, distance with immediacy. From bass-propelled opener “Flash Tension” to melancholic finale “Invisible”, complex melodies and translucent synths are set against a background of abrasive noises, bitcrushed effects, and Luxus Varta’s unmistakably inventive beat making. 
“Colder” is Luxus Varta’s first release for the TRUST label, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The 12” version ships in transparent vinyl with sleeves designed by dextro.org.
