Founding member of Bizarre Inc, one half of Nexus 21 and Altern8, and also recorded solo under a plethora of monikers such as DJ Nex, Trackman, Mark II, and Slo Moshun… Mark is quite simply one of the most important and influential dance music producers of the last two decades.
Still writing and DJing out across the globe, everything from jacking acid, classic techno, funk, hardcore, hip-hop, and of  course his most notorious speciality genre: Old Skool Rave – Mark Archer is a resident at London’s I Love Acid, and also a regular guest at top music events such as Bangface, BLOC Weekend, Sonar Festival, Fantazia, and many more…

Solid Steel (11th April) It's another special show this week, as we celebrate 30 years of Acid with an incredible mix by Posthuman to coincide with their last I Love Acid club night at Corsica Studios, London on Saturday 12th April. This is what they say about the mix;
"We put together this mix (with a little help from fellow I Love Acid residents Mark Archer & Placid) to celebrate 30 years of acid. 
We decided to pick one track per year, since 1984 - the year Roland stopped making the 303. Starting with Chicago House, expanding out into Detroit Techno and the evolutions in the acid sound from the UK & Europe, then into the late 90's Warp/Rephlex territory, right up to the present day."
The mix starts with Chris & Cosey's 1984 classic "Dancing Ghosts" and includes tracks from Phuture, 808 State, UR, Plastikman, AFX and Luke Vibert, who will be playing at the club night, plus their own new track 'Back to Acid'

Cologne’s RAVE CLUB  [ ... a brief club history http://www.psychothrill.de/?page=item&amp;post=339 ] had caused quite a stir as a club institution in the Dome city during the years 1988 to 1990, not only throughout Germany, but also on a European basis – e.g. via features in FACE and I-D, as well as through its monthly schedule and its bookings [et al. Marshall Jefferson, Kym Mazelle, EPMD, Todd Terry…] together with the residents. For the first time, there now were club nights in Cologne, which were solely dedicated to House and Acid without any compromise and these also became an example in many respects for anything substantial that has been going on in Cologne’s night life ever since, be it Space Club, "Elevator", Warehouse, PSYCHO THRILL or "Total Confusion" and which laid a foundation for all kinds of sounds that any Psycho Thrill guest has been experiencing since 1991 on a regular basis: Get right on matey – there are no rules, fear is unknown and sleep is out of question!

     “This rather ruff mix of myself- sorry for a few rumbles and mistakes – was recorded during one of my rare solo nights without my partner Roland Casper sometime in November of 1989. It was done with a crappy Rain mixer lacking gain control, only allowing semi-professional monitoring and I would kick any promoter’s ass for this today. The DJ booth also was exposed to some disturbances by visitors, which accounts for some of the skips during the mix. But the complete works of euphoric clubbers and the extraordinary atmosphere, which was created by the combination of a very good sound system, light and sound [two strobes, a fog machine, two flowers], made this club experience so absolutely valuable. That was the place, where we started the shit in Cologne. This mix got re-mastered by a friend from some TDK tapes that were recorded on a Yamaha tape recorder, so the quality is poor at times, but it is an authentic sound document of Cologne’s club life in the late 80s on the other hand. Heavily influenced by Aphex Twin, who went on to become his labelmate at Warp, Tom 'Squarepusher' Jenkinson had an experimental approach to bass guitar - both at school, and then later in teenage metal bands - which he applied to electronic music, releasing his debut record, Stereotype (under the name Stereotype) in 1994. After a series of records on Spymania, Jenkinson landed on Warp's roster in 1995, and became part of the label's stable of 1990s titans with Aphex, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Plaid et al.

The 20 years since have seen Squarepusher tear up the templates of jazz, drum'n'bass, psychedelia, techno and more across over 15 albums, while also developing one of the most talked-about live shows on the electronic circuit. Last year, the Squarepusher project reached a logical climax of sorts when Jenkinson released an EP, Music for Robots, that was written by him but performed by a trio of Z-Machine robots (including a 77-fingered guitarist and a 22-armed drummer). That hasn't, of course, stopped him: this month he released his latest album, Damogen Furies. 

For Squarepusher's FACT mix, he looks way back, at the rave music from the turn of the 1990s that not only inspired him, but many of his contemporaries. This is Squarepusher presents Shut Up And Dance, 1990-1992, and it's rude as fuck.
