Created through improvisation within Sheffield’s Mytologier folk session, this tune features Swedish nyckelharpas and is a blend of British and Nordic folk styles.

Abi Bliss asked him about his hcmf// hit Black Box Music, discovered the technical challenges that will face performers of his String Quartet and learned about the inspiration for his atmospheric Im Rauschen.

In the second hcmf// podcast, festival director Graham McKenzie is joined by Clemens Merkel and Isabelle Bozzini of Montreal-based string quartet Quatuor Bozzini to discuss Composer’s Kitchen, the Bozzinis’ development workshop for up-and-coming composers, whose works they performed at the 2012 festival.
They are joined by scheme mentor Christopher Fox and participant Scott McLaughlin for a look back at the challenges of developing new works for festival performance, and a look forward to what the 2013 instalment has in store.
