Chuck would often introduce this song by telling the crowd that it was famously covered by Metallica. "We wrote it of course! Cough ahem..."

A few artistically tasteful variations on the original have been made for this version.

One of the composers, Joe Bouchard, listened to it and granted his royal seal of approval.

Both Derek (panned right) and Chuck (panned left) take solos during the song.

Astronomy was often the final song of a live set from The Bastard Sons of Dennis.

I heard Erik the Flutemaker describe how he imagined how the pre-historic man first came up with the flute concept.
He imagined a group of early humans living near a forest, occasionally weird sounds would come from the forest that scared them into running away, until a inquisitive ancestor ventured into the forest in search of this unworldly noise .
He found a bamboo that fell ,the little forest bugs ate the inside of the bamboo as it is soft and eventually decomposition made holes in to the bamboo.
Occasionally when it was windy and the wind blow from a certain angle its created a note, a sound.
And that ancestor of ours tried to understand the concept of wind, hollow bamboo with holes...
And maybe this was the way that the flute was born...
I loved that vision and when I saw this art work, it reminded me of this story and my creativity started to develop ...

Purple Pheonix

This is the third one-on-one collaboration from me and @texmex-shaman , I think Stephen and I make such a good creative team, have loved working with him! I had been holding onto this track for some time because I felt it was missing something. Finally sent it to Stephen and he immediately could imagine guitar played with an e-bow weaving in and out. He absolutely nailed the vibe that I was going for, I think his part perfectly builds on the mood that I'd been trying to develop. Hope you will also enjoy giving it a listen!
