Found on my debut album "Language of the Ancients," this is one of my favorite tracks from that release. Here it is performed live in the studio for all of you to enjoy! All faders, realtime effects, and synthesizers were all recorded in one take, the same way I would do it live at a show. Koshun Nakao - at that time...

Vion marks Lorenzo Montanà's 29th full-length album as an Italian soundtrack composer, engineer, and producer. This album represents his debut solo project for n5MD, an emotive electronics label based in Oakland. Initially sparked by Montanà's desire to experiment with jazz brush drum patterns, Vion gradually evolved into a diverse exploration of musical styles. This journey led to a fusion of ought-era experimental electronica elements and immersive ambient textures, expanding the album's sonic palette.

Montanà's music is characterized by a constant sense of motion and evolution, with intricate details that seldom remain static. The interplay between brushed drums and innovative production techniques lends Vion a unique blend of lightness and melancholic undertones. This release showcases Montanà's artistic growth beyond his previous ambient works, offering a cross-section of his electronic music endeavors thus far.

Vion will be available on transparent red vinyl starting May 24th, inviting listeners into Montanà's rich musical landscapes.

This may be the first time that Dawn Chorus and the Infallible Sea are officially appearing on Headphone Commute, but I assure you, I have been listening all along, starting from their self-titled debut release on Past Inside The Present to the more established Liberamente out on Jonas Munk's (aka Manual) Azure Vista imprint in 2019. Of course, besides the solo works by these monumental ambient composers, Zach Frizzell (aka zakè) and Damien Duque (aka City of Dawn) have previously collaborated together, and their 2023 album on PITP, Ash, was picked as one of my favourites of the year. Here, they are joined by Marc Ertel to round up the project, which appears to spearhead the "dronegaze" genre, this time forward driven by orchestral textures, guitar swells, and bass ("Cadere" is my particular favourite piece). Today, I am sharing the last track from their upcoming new album, Reveries, rounding off three-quarters of an hour spent in tranquil waves, sunny rays, and drifting bliss. It's an overall positive and soothing experience, approaching cathartic and restorative treatment as if pointing something towards your entire being, which releases vital healing energy and something you can drown in, becoming one with everything at once. Maybe "curegaze" or "ambientonic" is a better term for that...

TRACK PREMIERE : Dawn Chorus and the Infallible Sea - Aufero

I often wonder if things are getting worse or if it's just about perspective. The knowledge of the past is colouring the feelings of the present. Hasn't this world always been a little bit insane? Aren't some people dancing right now as others go to sleep in tears? Don't all good things come to an end while bad ones linger in the background? This mood I'm in right now is strange - it's contemplative yet disgruntled. What will I do about it all? At least, I will create. I think I'll make some music to express my inner state and paint with sound. But first, I turn to Onur Tarçın, a Turkish multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Paris, whose music seemed to trigger and then quiet all these thoughts. Listening to "A Piece of Sky", I am reminded of our vast universe and of all our real insignificance that we seem to forget while caught in our stories, of the lives that we live and the moments we share. And even if these thoughts [and skies] may not relieve our sorrows, perhaps this music [and these words] for just a second will.
