Deprived of sanity, Paul Régimbeau aka Mondkopf found new territories of expression with "Spring Stories", a collection of post-rapture moods full of glorious chaos, ready to absorb and re-ignite all that is worn. 

As a phoenix raising from the ashes, Spring Stories captures the earth in full bloom. Darkness & Insanity looses it´s grips as the roots and fresh leaves creates a slow dance towards the sun. Similarily, sine-wave drones move around exploding electric guitar improvisations as new light beams on shadow cast corners. The album feels like a 60ies jam set in the post-world psychedelic underground. Heavy, absurd, beautiful and ready to sooth burnt out, depleted minds. Paul has citied that he´s affected as much by folk improvisors such as Master Wilburn Burchette & Robbie Basho as well as the doom drone of giants Earth & Sunn O))). Spring Stories invokes on these, while feeling like a personal blow-out, coming right from the core. Touching and grand, like spring itself.

The album also features Frederic D. Oberland on two tracks playing variously Duduk & Alto Saxophone. Lastly, The Necks drummer Tony Buck shakes & rattles all over the final - and seriously epic - piece “Continuation”, as the world aligns while the sun rises over its near-dead shape.

This World Is Not My Home - Concrete World MIX - Lubber Compilation Mix- April 2022

From a unique curation of Siné Buyuka, who is behind the London based Injazero Records, comes a record of Iranian descent, featuring two Tehran-based musicians: Shahin Entezami aka Tegh and Adel Poursamadi. The former has previously appeared with his experimental, noise, and drone works on labels such as Opal Tapes, Hibernate, Dronarivm, Midira, Futuresequence, and Flaming Pines just to name a few; while the latter is an established violinist (including the making of the instrument) and an active member of numerous ensembles and orchestras. Together, they have created an incredible soundscape, merging the electronic with the acoustic, and a focus on Iranian traditional music. “The album attempts to speculate new definitions of certain feelings – anger, confusion, excitement – in a non-anthropocentric, futuristic world, where human beings must seek new tools and approaches in attempting to express themselves to post-human creatures.” With the darker and harsher territories of the sonic palette becoming the ground base of Ima, the album takes the listener into uncomfortable territories and thereby requires one simply to feel all those suppressed and subconscious emotions which have been felt by this land for all time. Today I am sharing with you the third track from the album, titled Ijād (ایجاد in Persian, which means “creation”), traversing some powerful and stirring territories between sensations not felt until now.

"What if one day in the distant future, human beings, living among new forms of strange species, encounter unknown types of feelings? Feelings that simply do not ignite any sort of nostalgia and do not have the same physical/mental effects as common feelings” Ijād ایجاد attempts to define a new particular type of feeling, a combination of hatred and anger, that could make individuals feel deeply delighted or truly excited."

The broadcast, protesting violence against women in Iran, following the murder of 22 year old woman Mahsa Amini in Tehran. Featuring 100% women and nonbinary Iranian artists, the project is curated by Pouya Ehsaei: 

_"Iranian history in the past hundred years is a story of resistance against violence and oppression. Most recently, on 16 September, the death of a 22-year-old Kurdish woman, Mahsa Amini, ignited a nationwide uprising in Iran. Mahsa was detained and beaten up by the morality police for wearing her hijab in an “inappropriate” way and died in custody. Since then Iranians, particularly women, have been on the streets shouting “Women, Life, Freedom” demanding a free country, a fair government and the abolition of compulsory hijab. In response to this movement, the Iranian government is violently attacking and arresting the protesters and has shut down the internet to limit communications.
We are standing by the people of Iran who are risking their lives for freedom. In a climate where the Iranian regime is creating a toxic environment to spread fear and prevent Iranian people from raising their voice, we want to thank all of the artists who have responded to this invite and offered their mixes and, more importantly, their names in the name of freedom. These are the voices the Islamic Republic wishes to silence. These are the voices that used to be sung in private and are now shouting together in a fog of tear gas, in the middle of fire. Developed from a commission by CTM Festival as an audio/visual project in collaboration with Tarik Barri, and inspired by their 2017 theme of ‘Fear Anger Love’ and its relationship to his childhood following the 1979 Iranian revolution, the record reveals a dramatic blend of acoustic Persian instrumentation and contemporary electronics. Sote aims to devise an idealised fusion of the musical heritage and tradition of Iran with the forward-thinking vision which has propelled his storied career producing techno, hardcore and computer music for labels like Warp, Ge-stell, Morphine and Repitch.

Now living in Tehran, his music has frequently grappled with the strict cultural restrictions imposed in his country over the past few decades, finding a space and setting to nurture new developments in experimental sound and performance; first documented on last year’s ‘Hardcore Sounds From Tehran’ on Opal Tapes.

Working with Arash Bolouri who plays the santour (Persian hammered dulcimer), and Behrouz Pashaei on the long-necked, four-string setar, Sote frames and responds to their traditional artistry. On occasions he directly manipulates the music emanating from their ancient instruments, cultivating and thickening up a surreal and beautiful tonality plucked from their strings with a series of processing techniques, but mostly each track is a peaceful arrangement and partnership, Sote electro-acoustically augmenting their movements within his own cybernetic framework. The resulting form gives the impression of semi-improvised gesture between three skilled partners, a deft call and response that uses digital techniques to extend the intentions of the performers into a modern, shady, but ultimately optimistic narrative; creating an paradoxical amalgam of the mythic and the profane as strong as any folk music.

Across the six tracks the strange strings tend to conduct the overall experience, tuned to the unusual colour and complex microtonality found in the classical music of Iran. Blurts of noise, sour tones, and a vaguely technoid or dubwise impression expose the inner rhythm and counterpoint embedded in this strummed music, building a new understanding and doorway into unfamiliar timbres and environmental patterns which govern us. At times it finds the artist at his most compositionally delicate and measured—listen to the sense of space afforded to a beautiful solo that drifts throughout “Boghze Esfahen” and then into “Plural”—and redoubles his focus on what new insight might be gained from the emotional, mathematical and polyrhythmic principles underpinning Persian music.

The electronic parts on final track “Holy Error” are sourced from Sote’s residency at EMS Stockholm in late 2016, utilising their remarkable in-house modular Serge system and divesting from conventional Iranian tonal motifs for a spikier duel with the instruments.

In September 2002 Mika Vainio, Ryoji Ikeda and Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai) were invited by the Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art for a residency. As a result of this project three live performances followed this research period.

All the tracks on this record were recorded live on September 23, 2002 at the Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art in Newcastle, UK.

Stefan Fraunberger's Quellgeister#3 Bussd is Recorded entirely on an abandoned church's organ in the village of Bussd, Romania, the album is the third installment of the series by Austrian artist and composer Stefan Fraunberger. His research on the influence of nature on culture touches on time, periphery, memory, and transience as evidenced in his Quellgeister research. The album is an archeological sonic research on the deteriorating Organ discovered in the saxon church in Transylvania.
