HEADROOM is Adam Metcalfe. Born and raised in Southern Africa but globally travelled and requested for his unique sound and characterful performances. Well over two decades have been devoted to his craft, fine tuning an evolving and distinctive tech-psy style. Headroom’s music is often a warm gateway into the world Psytrance, fusing musical ideas, genres and dance floors with charisma, soul and his trademark psychedelic touch. As the trance scene grows, Adam strives to stand out, stay humble and remain connected.

Deep, Hypnotic, Driving. This is my new inspiration going back to the beginnings of what Trance really was.

Sun psychedelic! My sets are all about deep, driving, rolling psychedelic trance; the kind that vibrates your soul. A journey of the daytime, through the deepest grooving psychedelia. Ihave spent many years fine tuning my deejay skills. I have been developing my own style, and exploring the wonderful world of psychedelic trance! After playing indoor parties for several years, I debuted outdoors at the GAIA Tribe: Deep South party in May 2011. I enjoy playing daytime trance that goes from the more lower tempo almost progressive stuff all the way to full-on morning psy. I even love the fluffy stuff! But my preferred sound is definitely the deep, driving, psychedelic stuff! With my DJ sets I like to mix harmonically, and I carefully plan each set.
I live for the summer Sun, the psychedelic breeze, and the sexy pulsating bodies spreading the love on the dancefloor...

I became addicted to psytrance in 2003, when I heard my first ever psy track "Mescaline" by 1200 Micrograms. Since then I quickly became infatuated with psychedelics, psychedelic culture, and most of all of course, psychedelic trance music! I began teaching myself to DJ in London in 2006 when i bought myself my first cheap cheap-ass pair of Ion CDJ's, and a nice little Numark mixer . For the next several years I would spend my time as a bedroom DJ, honing my skillz and exploring the music, and developing my signature sound. I got my big break when I was discovered by and signed to Gaia Tribe in 2009! I have played regular indoor events for them since, getting my first outdoor gig at their party in May this year. I can't wait to break out onto the major outdoor trance circuit in the Cape!
