I was asked by my friend Dennis Ruyer at Dutch radio station 538 to mix an hour in celebration of 30 years on air of “Dance Departement” a Saturday night electronic music show which I have been a steady guest at in these last 3 decades.  

I thought it be fun to mix the decades together chronologically, I know some release dates may be incorrect and some of the mixes I used are a bit more recent but I wanted it to be coherent. I also want to put a disclaimer

Hi guys!

After 3 years of no gigs it was time to pack up my stuff and travel the long road to Buenos Aires. I was nervous, I was scared, I was panicking. What was I going to play? You see after 30 years of playing music for various crowds and in various rooms and fields I felt I had traveled enough, I felt I had played enough and with my frequent gig at House Of Yes in New York i also felt i went full circle. What was left for me to do? What was left for me to explore? Covid and the year after was a big moment to reflect on that, to take time to figure that out. When Argentina called for a re-visit to the club that held the dearest memories to me in the early years of this century I knew it was time to test drive the ideas and directions I felt most comfortable with. A club with so much history for DJ culture was the perfect spot for a reset. And boy It did not disappoint, as a matter of fact it was incredible. A crowd and a vibe I had been chasing for so long was right back where I first found it. I took the club for a trip down memory lane and back to the here and now in the space of 3 hours, and that is what I think I do best, gluing the years and the various styles together. This mix takes inspiration from that night and maybe the start of something new. Enjoy!!
