Psydub is a sub genre of electronic music that has its roots in psychedelic trance, ambient and dub music. Incorporated dub elements are melodic basslines, deep reggae roots and production techniques like echo, reverb, delay and occasional dubbing of vocal or instrumental snippets, from the original version or other works. An incorporated ambient element is an emphasis on tone and atmosphere. Incorporated psytrance elements are low-bass frequencies and hypnotic melodies and the use of samples. Those samples mostly contain references to drugs, parapsychology, extraterrestrial life, existentialism, out of body experiences, dreams, science, time travel, spirituality and similar mysterious and unconventional topics. Psydub is also highly influenced by the music of India.

An alluring road unfurls before you. It is vibrant and gravity-defying, filled with oddities uncommonly seen by your typical human. In the distance, you can spot a man, perched aside the pavement. This man, Supersillyus, is your newfound guide down a path that he alone can escort, and the road is titled “Charade”. For the fourth year running, Gravitas Music is proud to present the fourth volume of the Virtus In Sonus compilation. The selection of songs spotlights a slice of Gravitas’ massive pool of international talent, including tracks from Mr. Bill, ill-esha, Psymbionic, Of The Trees, Unlimited Gravity, AMB and more. A myriad of electronic genres are represented throughout, with the influences of downtempo, glitch hop, trap, and hybrids thereof. Although the 16 tracks showcase a healthy variety, there is still distinct flow for the duration of the track listing; beginning slow and dreamy, the pace progressively shifts to a more danceable momentum before ending on a somewhat somber tone.

In early 2017, Amani Friend re-envisioned selections from his rich Liquid Bloom catalog to deliver new downtempo compositions into a contemporary electronic space. Subsequent to that Re.Generations release, Canadian producer AtYyA selected seven of the album's tracks to put his own spin on them. 

Crafting whole new worlds around Liquid Bloom collaborators Poranguí, Deya Dova, Ixchel Prisma, Numatik, Rara Avis, and more, Tyler Clark generously imbues his signature tribal tonic into these works, for a mysterious and pulsing fresh spin on these re-imaginings -- one that balances the lightness of Amani Friend's remixes with an intriguing, contrasting darkness. 

Never before have Black Swan and Desert Trax released an entire remix pack by one artist taking on another. This is truly a look behind the curtain at two innovative and truly groundbreaking artists.

Hey Music Lovers! Headstash Music is curated by a fiendish music researcher and obsessed archivist, with a strong bias towards new forms of music, hybrid sounds and obscure rarities. I estimate I've categorized close to 20,000 tracks so far, spread over a couple dozen playlists.
