De Reünie Mix Series 002 is very special :-)

Mohajer and Lawrence Lee are two best friends from Berlin. They are regulars at De Reünie, events in Amsterdam and have become known for their groovy, slightly unpredictable sets that never take themselves too seriously. 

Last year, they dropped their first EP on UMAY, trying out fresh sounds and influences. They’ve played De Reünie three times—once as a back-to-back set and twice as solo acts (but always on the same night)—making them a familiar part of our lineup.

They recorded this mix in their shared studio, working with friends and bouncing tracks back and forth. The result is a free-flowing mix of different genres they love—something you’d hear at De Reünie—anchored by a laid-back, sexy vibe throughout.

Hailing from Santiago de Chile, eclectic talent Marcelo Antonio is a formidable voice for deep, mind-bending techno. Since 2018 the DJ/Producer has been putting out a growing number of releases on labels like Float, Keyhole, Methodical, Antiterra, EVOD Music, and delivered killer sets across his native Chile and Europe, honing a class of sound that’s full-bodied, deep and geared for marathon raves. His self-published work via Bandcamp-only outlet Out of Sight too, offers a further glimpse into his intimate studio workings: high-concept and movement driven tracks that foment rhythmic contemplation. His frequent collaborators include widely recognised industry staples like Kwartz, DVS1, Kr!z, Ruben Ganev, TWR72, Border One, Biri and Samuli Kempi, a sounding board comprised of peers that share in his passion for primal loops. It’s an elegant techno that layers up textures and builds up tension second by second, and steers its bow towards a distant and euphoric horizon. This master of mood is here with a number that’ll push your body and mind to the limit, liminal techno that hypnotises and fringes the frontier of techno. Episode 250!

I’m pleased to announce Hasvat Informant as the milestone guest for episode 250 of the podcast. Hasvat also headlined my first interstate DJ gig in Sydney in 2024, so it’s a full-circle moment to have him on the series.

Hasvat Informant is for the deep listeners. The Naarm/Melbourne-based producer and DJ wields a powerful yet subtle type of techno that’s dark and delicate, coaxing dancers into burrowing hollows with rhythmically dexterous sets. Though he’s no stranger to outdoor gigs, he revels playing intimate club settings where he can lose himself in the booth, the dance floor and the sonic worlds that he evokes. As a former sound and light technician, Hasvat Informant’s attraction to immersive dance floor moments stems from his fascination with AV and throws back to formative club experiences as a teen. 

The self-taught artist instinctively feels his way through production, earning him appearances on several notable international labels, including as a regular contributor to Mama Snake’s ‘Amniote Editions’. He pulls inspiration from sound itself and begins each production by exploring a certain timbre; unpacking distinct identifying features to anchor and grip each track. This sense of discovery extends to his own creativity as he now turns to write music defined by sonic characteristics less so genres, all whilst balancing studio time with showcase performances locally and internationally.
