THE BEDROOM PHILSOPHER ANNOUNCES FULL BAND NATIONAL ALBUM LAUNCH TOUR  With his band THE AWKWARDSTRA
 
With his third album Songs From The 86 Tram fresh on the shelves, The Bedroom Philosopher is teaming up with his partners in crime The Awkwardstra for a massive national album launch tour. The full band tour comes fresh off the back of TBP’s sell-out run of solo dates, both nationally and at the 2010 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. With good friends The Boat People jumping on board for support (selected shows only, see below), make sure you’re not caught without a ticket when the tramily roles into town.
 
As The Bedroom Philosopher himself puts it; “my live show is both a remarkably memorable life changing experience and cause for major concern.”  An onstage blitz of devil may care comedy poetics meeting something resembling intelligent and catchy eclecticism. The Awkwardstra were handpicked from 'Indie Snobs Anonymous', a self-help group for displaced Melbourne musicians (feat. members of Paradise Motel & The Brunettes) and provide pitch-perfect tightness to the Philosopher's helter skelter.  Featuring sitar, electric and double percussion – gags and wordplays play second fiddle to breakbeat rockouts, folk-rock jamouts and jamfunk breakdowns with a pinch of earnestness and about five seconds of jazz. Think Captain Beefheart meets Flight of the Whoevers.
 
Released Tuesday June 15th, and featuring cameos from Tim Rogers, Kram, Angie Hart, DC Root and many more, the clip for lead single Northcote (So Hungover) is tearing up screens nationally. Northcote (So Hungover) received rotation on triple J, FBI, Radar Radio and many more stations to boot. The 2nd single to be lifted from the album New Media is out next month.

Released in April this year, Songs From The 86 Tram is the third studio album from The Bedroom Philosopher. A genre swapping LP that's as comedically profound as it is musically diverse, Songs From The 86 Tram is a full-blooded concept album about Melbourne’s iconic 86 tram route. 
 
The album was crafted from writer / performer Heazlewood’s (Frankie magazine, John Safran's 'Race Relations') award winning Melbourne International Comedy Festival show of the same name, which won the ‘Director’s Choice’ award in 2009 and the Green Room award for ‘Best Production’ in 2010. To help turn the show into an album, in the studio he enlisted the help of producer Chris Scallan (Avalanches, Akon, Cut Copy), Harry Angus (The Cat Empire) on brass, and his hipster slayin band The Awkwardstra. The album was mastered by Greg Calbi of New York's Stirling Studios whos credits include David Bowie, John Lennon and Bob Dylan.
 
Songs From The 86 Tram follows in the footsteps of The Bedroom Philosopher’s previous hits  I’m So Postmodern (JJJ's Hottest 100 - 2006), Folkstar and Golden Gaytime, his ironic wit hot comedy finding him a cozy niche on Triple J and community radio Australia wide, performing everywhere from The Melbourne International Comedy Festival to the Big Day Out.

However, their ignoring of other musically inclined funny people is their loss, because The Bedroom Philosopher's hysterical skewering of meat-headed ticketing inspectors falls somewhere between a Fame-era Bowie slink and inspirational Hunners balladry.
