This piece is the reflection on the asian education. In asian culture, most of the parents would be indifferent or
impatient when their children are creative (curious to something new for them) because they want their children
to be 'normal'. However, this hinders the growth of the children and limits their imagination.
There are 3 sections ,'Discovering', 'Scold' and 'Parent-child "tutti"', the first two sections reflect the reality and
the last one is my expectation of the education ---- parents show appreciation to children's creativity and explore
something unknown with their children.
In 'Discovering', there are Percussion 1 & 2 as children to discover the sound effects of daily objects at home.
Percussion 3 in 'Scold' as a parent to stop their behavior. Finally, in 'Parent-child "tutti"', the parent is amazed by
their creativity, they explore the sounds effects and combinations and have a happy jamming!

Rhapsody of Household Items

The title – Impasto is a painting technique that thickens layers of paint. It produces an incredibly beautiful effect on the canvas. Although the paint is thick, the marks of the brush or palette knife are still visible. This is an astonishing painting technique which displays totally different style from traditional drawing.
The texture, development and articulation in this piece are imitating the shapes and techniques in impasto. This was the first time the composer explored the brass instruments and composed the textual music, which differs from traditional brass compositions.

Impasto

Premiered on 1st September 2022 in Comune di Lavarone.

Kau Nga Ling (West Ridge) is the southern hill range from Lantau Peak, Hong Kong. Most of the slopes are very steep, requiring one to clamber up strenuously. Inspired by the shape of the mountain, I have appointed the ‘up and down’ phrase to the Xylophone. The piece is about my mixed feelings as the composer: scared of heights, tired because of climbing, deeply affected by the view.

Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series!

On this week's editions we welcome @Valeron

Generally recognized as the top DJ on the island of Mykonos, Valeron is definitely one of the longest standing and most omnipresent figures of the ever-shifting local music scene.

Soon after relocating to Mykonos, he became a producer releasing tracks that helped register his name in the Deep House and Electronic genre. This carried him through to becoming a founder of the Bercana Music label and releasing 2 personal albums already “Amare” & ‘’Aigaio’’. Valeron’s albums introduces a unique combination of traditional Greek instruments and Electronic beats.

Every Saturday at Scorpios Mykonos Valeron leads ‘’Scorpios World’’ where he performs live alongside Greek musicians of instruments such as the clarinet, violin, Ney,Bouzouki, Saz, Oud,Santur and many more. With lots of originals and remixes that had climb on top of Beatport charts, on May 2019 he will release his third personal album.

We are happy to welcome him to our family, and we hope you enjoy this mix as much as we do!
