What is an Imagineer?

20th Century:
Initially Alcoa (The Aluminium Company of America) coined the word ‘Imagineering’ to describe the interface of imagination and engineering. The Disney Corporation took on a mission to remain at the zeitgeist of creativity. Employing Blue-Sky thinking, laterally minded, freaks, mavericks & the like, who could think on the breaking edge of the wave to enlighten …and elevate the spirit through creativity. These were Imagineers. Modern technocrats, proto-slackers and future seers, but within a corporate structure.

21st Century:
The Imagineers are evolving the process, but this time, using the powerful medium of music. The Imagineers are working at the interface of imagination and sound i.e. Rock & Roll music.

Katie Sutherland ft Ed Drewett - It's Cold Outside

A Band Called Quinn (aka Quinn - is a band from Glasgow, Scotland, by Louise Quinn (songwriting & vocals) & Bal Cooke (production & drums). Other members are: Robert Henderson, Steven Westwater &Adam Wyroslawski.

They have worked with Kid Loco (produced Luss, their 2nd album), Alex Kapranos (played on their début,Inbetween Worlds), The Pastels (who’s releases Bal’s produced / engineered) & Bill Wells. Their music has been used in films, by award-winning directors David McKenzie & Penny Woolcock. 

Their most recent album, The Beggar’s Opera features songs from award winning theatre company Vanishing Point’s show in which the band toured late 2009 & has sleevenotes written by Scottish crimewriter Ian Rankin.

A Band Called Quinn - I Wish You Love

Suspire are an indie/alternative rock ‘n’ roll trio from Glasgow, Scotland. Three-piece since 2008 with a past of various line-ups. Supported the likes of Shonen Knife (Kurt Cobain’s favourite band), XSM, Dutch Uncles, Cosmic Rough Riders’ front-man Daniel Wylie and RM Hubbert. Played festivals including RockNess and EIFF 2010/11.

The latest single, Salvation Sister -produced by Echo and The Bunnymen guitarist, Gordy Goudie, outsold Bjork *Martha Wainwright (*feat. artist on track) and Josh Osho as a same-week release in the UK Charts (Sep 2011). Salvation Sister also won an award for “best alternative/indie recording of the year” at the SNMAs.

Internationally, the band have toured briefly in France (2009), USA and Canada (2011).

Primetime radio airplay gained in Washington D.C. (2011) and San Francisco (Pacific FM, 2011).  UK radio airplay gained on Jim Gellatly’s Clyde 1 show, Amazing Radio, Radio Six International, Salford City FM, Dune FM and Pulse FM.

We are a fresh new band, bursting with talent and producing an exciting, vibrant sound.

All students of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama). Some members have been through the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music and others being part of other very well known bands.

They are from a vast area of Scotland, Paisley to Perth, Falkirk, Spean Bridge and Golspie.

The stunning voice of Marianne Fraser and her guitar, Mhairi Mackinnon on fiddle, Heather Shelley on piano, Sarah MacNeil on harp and only gent, Grant McFarlane, on accordion. A superb blend of sounds showing off some vocal notes as well!

CherryGrove - Lost

Her rise from a young unknown to a household name in Scotland has been phenomenal. Carol first captured the attention of the media, when in 1990; her independent single, “Standing Proud” was chosen to represent Glasgow in its year of culture. Since then all five of her albums – “Still”, “Precious Little Victories”, “Naked”, “First Disciple” and “To Let” – have been released to high critical acclaim, as well as propelling her to the forefront of the Scottish music industry.

Carol’s reputation has also grown internationally over the years. She was even invited to perform at New York’s famous Carnegie Hall alongside Mary Chapin Carpenter and Sarah McLachlan at the very first all female singer/songwriter concert.
